Haven’t updated for a while.
Still awaiting box from Quaife, I’m told mid Nov now, there’s been a slight delay with manufacturing.
In the meantime you’ll all remember the constant wiring issues I was having for a long period of time. Driving the tuner and myself nuts with lambda sensors not working, issues with coolant temp sensor readings, wheel speed sensors suffering with too much noise, dash turning off randomly and many others problems.
As you’ll recall the tuner did a great job to use the ECU software to find work arounds with all of these issues which was less than ideal, expensive and very time consuming.
The car had gone back to Level Motorsport wiring (LMW) two or three times but the issue was never found and I was always assured it was not his fault, he doubled down on the fact the wiring was all to spec.
The CDI was always the likely culprit due to the high level of EMI they can produce if not wired correctly. When Syvecs had the car, even they said the levels of EMI in the cockpit were sky high and affecting their laptops.
So whilst the weather has turned and I await gearbox I sought out a proper expert with experience of Syvecs, a wiring guy but also a tuner with his own dyno. I arranged to have the car shipped there last week. Having paid all of that money for the loom it’s always nagged at me that it isn’t perfect.
Within 30 mins of him checking the loom he found that the CDI had not been shielded at all, the wrong gauge wire used and all of the grounding incorrect and inadequate. Not only that, LMW ran the ECU/CDI loom together sandwiched at various junctions, being non shielded you can imagine the chaos, no shielding on the trigger wires either.
To solve, a new CDI loom is being fabricated, wired with M&W spec, shielded and earthed correctly with a view of solving this 3 year debacle once and for all. It will take a week or two but I’m feeling positive for the fix. It means tuner can go back to how the car was designed to run from the start.
