My clutch master looked to be failing so swapped for a new one.

Before.

I also ordered a new slave but waiting for that to arrive.

Also fitted the new Prometh pump but again waiting for the rest of the parts which should arrive any day now. Kit includes jets, lines and manifolds.

Treated myself to some FEED carbon side steps too. I’m going to source rear diffuser and new BGW for the winter.

In this weeks adventures of Marks FD I’ve now further bled the clutch again and also taken delivery of a new slave cylinder along with new Goodridge line. Will fit this weekend.

The Pro Meth bits have arrived, have sent inlet off to Colum today so he can make a few amendments in order to fit the jets and 4 port manifold.

Whilst Colum is doing his thing I’m taking this opportunity to clean up the engine bay following me losing all that coolant a few months back. Also better routing the loom to make it tidier. Photo is a work in progress 😂

The 1bar tune is looking good. Just need to safely double the boost.

Finally cracked it

Almost 6 bar pressure and over 3000cc per min flow.

Ready for the dyno.

The other pain in the arse was the standard 2 pin level sensor, absolute shit polarity so moved to a float level sensor which with a bit of modification just fits in the tank.

Works perfectly now too.

Haven’t updated for a while.

The FD is currently in the bodyshop getting a few things taking care of before they get worse.

First thing is the windscreen is out as the seal failed and water had gotten in which obviously started to rust.

IMG_2344.jpeg

Water has also been getting in above the headlining.

Old cut out and new piece added in.

Next up before my ownership it seemed the car had water ingress in the back seat causing a mouldy seat and surface rust behind the drivers seat.

This will all be tidied up and treated too before carpet and seats fitted. I’m going to find a set of bins next year if I can.

Next up rust was found behind the rear pass side spat. That’s currently being sorted too.

Once this is all done the new FEED steps can be fitted.

I can’t remember exactly. I think I paid about £1200 for down pipe, turbo and manifold

I collected the car from the body shop today after two months.

I had the windscreen surround rust sorted and a new OEM Mazda seal used which looks awesome. The passenger side rear arch needed sorting with some bubbling and a section underneath the spat needed remaking with fresh metal. Also had some surface rust removed underneath the rear seats, front bumper scrape done and then FEED side steps adding.

The Winchester sump was rubbing on the subframe so gave this a little bit of clearance too.

Little collection video from earlier.

Next up, booked in with Level Motorsport first week of Jan to have the 02 sensor fault fixed, i then plan to book dyno in Feb.

The wiring saga continues sadly.

I did manage to go to a local meet at the beginning of Jan and was snapped by Kyza, I do like his work. Far too cold for me though so didn’t hang around too long.

I had the car trailered to Level Motorsport wiring for some loom troubleshooting. This intermittent lambda issue is proving to be a real pain in the arse.

IMG_2816.jpeg

Despite my home testing showing there was no voltage as Sod’s Law would have it his tests showed that the sensor was reading.

Screen shot of sensor working as I picked the car up.

IMG_2872.jpeg

I picked the car up and within 5 mins the sensor failed again.

IMG_4349.jpeg

This screenshot shows the fault as the lambda issue pinned to 0.98.

IMG_2873.jpeg

Quick shot on the way home feeling very disappointed that the issue still exists, looks good though ❤️

IMG_2839.jpeg

After much idling at the wiring shop the plugs were fouled so swapped out for a new set of BR10EG.

IMG_2854.jpeg
IMG_2853.jpeg

ECU is now with Syvecs to have that tested in order to rule out an ECU fault. I’m expecting it to come back fine so next steps will be back to wiring place to formulate a proper fix. I just want to get this thing on the dyno.

The saga continues.

ECU back from Syvecs and tested all fine and working as it should. No faults on the lambda circuits.

Back to Level Motorsport Wiring this week for more investigation and hopefully a solution.

Looking forward to milder weather as I have a few small jobs to fix before dyno.

First up I have a small coolant leak, I think from the lower radiator hose. Secondly I need to change a fitting on the waste gate as it’s been rubbing on a bolt on subframe.

Finally I need to rethink the breather/catch can set up. The current route coming off the filler neck is filling the can too quickly.
