Clutch replacement recommendations

It appears that my clutch is on the way out, 3rd gear onwards it will slip from 3-6k revs then reengage. Clutch and gearbox were replaced about 7 years ago by previous owner so would've expected it to have lasted longer as it's not often used.

Since the clutch is coming out I am thinking of putting in a lightened flywheel as well. Are there any recommendations for what parts I should look for?. I am running a fairly stock FD and will be for road use only so needs to be usable.

Hi I have an exedy single plate stage 2 that's covered less than 1000 miles with lightweight flywheel and counter weight if interested

How usable is it on the road?, Not wanting anything extreme that makes driving difficult.

Is ed not still doing his? Great clutches and no need for a counterweight and flywheel

Yes, I would reach out to Ed. Decent price as well. It's a bit more juddery than stock when taking off slowly in traffic but not by much. Otherwise, pedal weight is 15% heavier and it otherwise drives fine.

Apparently his clutch will handle 450+ as well.

Very interesting offer though given the lightweight flywheel to go with it.

If you’re running stock ish power then I’d just fit a stock clutch with a lightened flywheel. Whatever you do, don’t get those paddle clutches

I've got a standard clutch that was inspected by jm imports. They said it was in great condition when they removed it.

I'd take £100 for it

I'll likely be modding the car to about 350whp in the future so is it worth getting something better than stock?.

My car had an excedy stage 2 paddle clutch when I bought it and it was awful for road use. Used to shake the car and me to bits pulling away.
I fitted an act extreme street and the difference is night and day

Depends where you go but I wouldn’t expect to pay any more than 250 to fit a clutch

Yep fairly easy job on the FD.

Martin's clutch sounds interesting if I was you. Any single plate organic pull clutch will be similar to stock feel. Its when you go twin plates a puck clutchs they get a bit daft

Martins clutch is a excedy 3 puck disc, horrible for street and an overkill for a lightly modded car. Not trying to crap on him selling it but not what Damz would want from my experience

Oddly when I took the car out today the clutch was perfectly fine, even tested it on a slip road on the motorway next to my flat and the clutch held up till the redline. Surely if the clutch is on it's way out it can't suddenly start working?. On another note I'd forgotten how much fun the car is :).

Clutch started slipping today, not sure what has happened but since it worked fine for a day then not another I'm thinking clutch hydraulics etc are playing up and possibly air in the system.
