cib24's 1999 Mazda RX-7 Type RS

I like your green pin striping roy! You keeping that look? ?
Fair play though...... it's gonna look so fecking awesome in the sun.....if we have sun ?

Tailights polished and looking brand new. Looking forward to him polishing the glass and removing some of the heavy scratches from the rear hatch glass. Also, a photo showing the additional shine being created from the refining stage. Still no ceramic coat on the car.

Looks fucking great!!! I hate my stripey windows glass.
Would like to see this car in the flesh ??

Should had that the stripey windows are the least of my concerns with the state the outside of mine is in

A few more progress shots. The FEED kick plates have a layer of clear on them which I had the bodyshop do to protect the finish. The detailer has given it a polish so they look near new again. He also cleaned up the rear corner lenses, exhaust, and other things. Have a look at the finish on the bonnet! Refining stage done and now it's on to ceramic coating to lock it all in.

He keeps teasing me with a couple shots each time but I want him to take more of the car! I hope it doesn't rain when I finally pick it up!

Haha the reflectors are awesome! I need to take all the polish out of the writing on mine! Them kick plates are stunning! I've been nagging my mate for 2 years to knock me some carbo ones up! Summers nearly here so will be nagging him again!

All done. Picked her up tonight and my wallet is way lighter. After 60 hours of work over 6.5 days the full paintwork correction is complete and I'm stoked. Attention to detail to the maximum degree, about 90% defect free and so much so that you can now clearly see all of the minor flaws in the paint from the body shop under the clear! Minor minor issues now as it's damn near as perfect as you could expect it to be. Seeing the car like this has been a huge goal of mine since struggling with resprays over the last 2 years and I'm glad it's finally at a point I can really be proud of it and it's protected and sealed properly with that ceramic coat that it should look this way for a few years before needing an enhancement detail (and it's impervious to basically all weather including salt). Now, I can focus on touching up the final few bits (indicator stalks, FEED floor mats, get the panels aligned just right, maybe a new rear hatch glass someday, respray a couple things in the engine bay, and a couple other little nitpicks to make it truly concourse). Maybe I'm sticking my neck out here but given how it looks now and all of the work that has gone into it, I am confident in saying this is one of the nicest FD's in the UK. Enjoy the photos and hopefully more to come!

Also, capturing white in photos is hard! Sometimes the camera would create a photo that seemed too cool and other times it would seem too warm!

I'd be more nervous taking it on the road even more so to a local tesco knowing you're coming back out to find a trolley or another door in the side of it!
Ha fair play roy, I'm with you on about 95% of your bold statement but I'm an early model fan! If it had early bumpers I'd agree 100% it's bloody stunning fair play ?

Looks almost perfect.... top work over 6 days!

What was the final cost for it all, if you don't mine me asking?

Looking beautiful. As has been said, I would be nervous taking that to the track with all the surface grime and old rubber involved with that!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. Still a few minor things to sort out but I'll get to those in time. The cost of this was not cheap as you can expect from 60 hours of labour and the top end professional-only products used for the ceramic coat. Let's just say it cost very similar money to what it cost me to buy my E39 BMW 530i shed. Within PH cost parameters. However, I view it as an investment and the benefits are clear as the actual paint and clear will be fully protected for literal years with minimal maintenance effort required on my part.

As for actually using the car, well it's not an old Ferrari or anything and aside from potential stone chips the car is equipped to shrug off all sorts of conditions due to the rust prevention products all over and inside the cavities and the ceramic coating to the whole body, plastic trims, wheels, calipers, glass, etc.

I do wonder how much is a car like mine technically worth nowadays when you have a Spirit R from Harlow Jap Autos going for £40,000, and while nice the R won't technically be as nice as mine? Obviously, that car benefits from the special edition tag and all of the unique features it has such as emblems, seats, etc. which definitely add value.

That spirit r is stock: as an investment,To achieve high value . It needs to be absolutely mint and bone stock.
Personally I think that spirit r is overpriced to start with.
No matter how nice and clean a modified 99 spec is. It’s never going to be as desirable as a bone stock spirit r.
Not taking anything from your car, it’s really nice It’s just never gonna be a spirit r:rolleyes:

Oh yeah, I totally know that. I didn't mean to imply that my car is somehow worth £40k like the Spirit R. I meant it more as the value of good FDs are rising so what would a car like mine theoretically sell for today? My guess is somewhere in the 20s range but not really sure where. In the end it doesn't matter too much at the moment since I don't intend to sell it unless I get rich enough overnight to buy something like a Lotus Exige Cup 430 or Evora GT430. Pipe dream.

I have no idea what that would be, nor do I wish to trawl through pistonheads at Euroboxes to get an idea. Just spit it out man, would of took less time to type a figure than post an entire paragraph about it. lol ;)

You should sell it overseas now, in the US the fetch good money... You should be able to sell it for a decent amount and then put some towards your Lotus, it's clear that you want to move over to that platform, so why wait? :)
