Where to get axle spring clips?

I sheared the spring clips off the ends if my axles getting them out of my diff.

I am finding it surprisingly hard to find some replacements.

I have after market axles going in to a cobra 8.8 diff so will need to find a supplier if generic clips.

Any ideas?

Assuming you've got the DSS axles, I'm surprised you managed to shear them. My axles take very little force to pop them out. Had them out twice last year to replace CV boots.

They are just a plain square section snap ring from memory. Can you not measure them and find in the UK?

Not sure if DSS have adopted the metric system unlike the rest of the US aftermarket. Worst case contact DSS, although they quoted me a fortune to ship a pair of CV boots.

Awesome. I didn't know they were called snap rings, so that's probably a part of my issue.

The shafts just would not come out. One came part way out then got stuck on the shaft bearing. The other just wouldn't budge. I started to damage the case trying to pry it out. In the end I managed to get one clip off from inside the diff and then used a breaker bar and big hammer to push the other one out.

I really struggled to get the axles out of the Freelander diff in my MNR Vortx, but reckon I could pull the DSS axles out of the Cobra without tools. I think it helps to have 2 pry bars on the axles so you are pulling square, rather than twisting the axle within the diff.

I will get round profile ones this time. I'm sure the square ones were just making things harder.
