Happy Sunday all,

First of all a public service announcement:

11079

Now that's cleared up back to the FD...

Found this in the loft that I got at TAS last year, the unfortunate thing is I can't read Japanese, but the pictures are very pretty

Meanwhile the parts are piling up on a pallet in the garage, a pallet which incidentally was supposed to mounted on the wall of our house as a vertical garden, my girlfriend saw on Pinterest..., I've adopted it now though as RX7 island.

So who are the inhabitants of RX7 island you ask? Well, I ordered a HKS EVC 6 boost controller and HKS Type 1 Turbo Timer (which has lots more features than the type 0, none of which I'll use lol). I love these two though and have them on the Evo, and as many bit's as I can I'll try to share between them.

11081

Have a rather lovely set of original pop-ups courtesy of a mate that I met for the first time at a Cars and Coffee thing way before I got on the RX7 properly, complete with carbon/FEED covers, ultimately they'll go in place of the smooth look headlamp covers. Ultimately they'll stay where they are before anything else happens but nice to know I have them and they were proper mate's rates, which was nice of him.

Wangled off a mate his Artec Industries Odyssey PC1200 battery cage, I have the PC1500 on the Evo with the same set up, awesome bit's of kit.

Been debating the eventual look for the RX7 and think I have it, a big part of that was the Burn Out front bumper, so ridiculously clean and exactly the right proportions, one which I had been dribbling over for ages.I started enquiring about this direct from Shine and it was silly money, so was well pleased it came up for sale courtesy of @nadz786 I had to have it, slightly premature given everything else going on, but was a still compared to shipped price from Shine.

11082

That with the pop-ups should be awesome

Also bagged a set of DEFI 60mm gauges for the dash to keep an eye on everything (oil pressure, oil temperature and boost) although not sure what to go for as in what gauge holder to use. I really like the Draklore stuff, just because of the fact that he makes it all himself, but his gauge holder looks a bit out of proportions and blob like.

11083

But the Tri-Border one's off RHD Japan look a lot cleaner on the dash in my opinion. Especially if I get it smooth over and flocked like in the Evo

11084

11085

(Not the DEFI's in there in that pic, but only good one I had...

That's the bumper safely transported back home, while picking up the bumper was chatting to Nas and it transpires that it's the original engine, and there hasn't been a rebuilt recently, so I'm thinking of rebuilding it now and taking his advice. That way I'll have peace of mind and everything will be fresh. So that will delay things a little while that happens, but the parts will soon start rolling in and then I can really cracking.

✌ Out

I agree with you about the triple pod from drakes liking a bit odd. I've got the double one to go in which is a much nicer shape and blends to the space better.

The following could be an option?

I do like that but never been a fan of the glovebox mount, feels too far away to me...

Your double one, is that 60mm?

I’d consider a drakes twin pod and a steering wheel column gauge pod, like the RE-A ones but get a drakes one knocked up for the 60mm gauge.

Theee gauges on the dash is to bulky I think and hard to find a nice pod like you’re looking for.

Just an idea 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not a bad shout that dude, nice one, didn't realise he did double 60mm gauges and they look smart / well of the way, that and an a-pillar may be...

Yo, happy nearly May, hope you had good long weekend and are looking forward to the upcoming one, so RX7 wise, it's all been a bit all quiet on the Western Front with bits and pieces arriving, but then one rather awesome package turned up and it all became suddenly VERY real in the best possible way.

So first up, the DM Motorsport AEM Coil Kit, looked at a couple of the kits from the states, but this one was U.K. based, and had decent community reviews, so figured it was worth going for and being plug and play it should slide straight in along with the CNC mounts etc and be a neat solution.

Next up, the CJ Motorsports Full S1 Fuel System, a rather special package consisting of:

- Aeromotive regulator
- Billet primary and secondary rails (with FPD)
- Mini pressure gauge
- AN fittings

Everything North of the bulkhead to mate up with the factory system.

Opted for this AEM Water/Meth Kit after yet more advice in addition to advice on here (thanks for that btw!) and after really reading into i further, I'm debating it for other cars now, should plumb nicely into the inlet and do a lot of overall good to the whole package.

After a rather bizarre ordering procedure, this beauty arrived and should give the usability I'm after while being able to take the power, OS Giken STR-2C Clutch:

While I had the clutch in the basket, it's tempting as f**K not just to go mental on RHD-Japan, but thankfully held off and just went with an ARD high-amp alternator, figured as I would be upping demands of the electronics etc I'd be stupid not to upgrade when I was in the same area.

Odyssey PC1200 Battery (with Artec Mount), love these batteries, straight up best batteries out there by far

In the words of Highlander...

There can be only one - Ohlins DFV, as soon as you've owned a car with these on, it's game over for any other suspension.

And last but not least... The first half of the package from TurboSource's , one of the brand spanking new Borg Warner EFR8474, rest of the kit should hopefully ship in the next few days, as for now it's just acting as a piece of modern art on the kitchen dining table

Cheers for reading,

Ciao.

And that's how you spend 10k in 30 mins ladies and gentlemen!!! Seriously though all great purchases and will make for an awesome powerful fd.

Where are you sourcing the rest of the Turblown kit from if you dont mind me asking?

edit - nevermind I cant read it seems.

And well this is exciting... No idea why the turbo on it's own was shipped 3 days with DHL and the rest on the water via UPS, but the rest of it is finally on the way...

And now for something completely different...Wheels... Been researching like a crazed loon every wheel/fitment thread for FD with a decent fitment on stock arches, surpringsly fruitful, with quite a few options, with the office at one stage looking like that scene from a beautiful mind as I tried to whittle them down

No surprises where I ended up... Enkei RPF01's. I was itching originally to do something split rim and a bit baller, but to be honest these suit the vibe of the car a lot more (and way less need to care about the condition of them versus something like a Meister S-1's)

So wheels sorted, I wanted to nail down the size of the wheels and tyres - run it past you fine people of RX7 land before I make an expensive mistake (or even worse, have to fit some sort of kit to it - no hate intended). Again searching through endless threads turned up these. Was immediately thinking that I would have to run something in the 8/9 area, I was pleasantly surprised to learn about the cavneous arches of the FD, so started on the widest wheel I could fit as a start point

Front - 18x9.5 ET45
Rear - 18x10 ET38

So first up, this guy - sporting the wheel specs above, not sure on the tyre sizes though...

46953337625_7d46a26109_b.jpg

Secondly, this guy: why people post the wheel size and not the tyre size is beyond me, as that's bit that actually touches the ground, but hey, another vote 9.5/10

46953615245_8c05ecd955_b.jpg

Third up, a name and a tyre size: GoodFellaFD3S

Lots of decent pics of the fitment on this one, was loving this guy:

Fitment looks bang on, but still some more room I think, despite the Jersey ride height, enter this legend: David ArubaDave Govaard

Fronts: 265/35
Rears: 285/35

46953616465_bb2d3c5d07_b.jpg

So thinking immediately the following:

Enkei RPF01 9.5 ET45 with 265/35/18 Pilot Sport 4
Enkei RPF01 10 ET38 with 285/35/18 Pilot Sport 4

That should be a sweet fit, not be rotatable, but I think I'll take the grip over that, for anyone with a 450/500bhp FD, how do you find the grip?

The wheels will be a last minute thing when everything else is sorted, and I'll probably change my mind again on them again, but honestly - it's as if someone had an FD at Enkei, because the ET's are so bang on and the style is so perfect for the FD that if I do find something then, it would have to be pretty special, reasonably priced and very light.

I'll post up again once all the bits arrive and it's go time for everything, I drop everything off and begin all the engine work.

Peace Out.

Good work on the fitment research.. the American boys do all the leg work for us 😂👍🏻

EFR!! Nas will post yo the meme ASAP 👍🏻

Out of interest, if you've got the 8374, why only run at that power, I'm aiming my cross hairs for more the 450bhp mark, are you limited by anything at all?

Actually it was a crap WGT map that was my limiting factor.

I've just had it remapped by a local specialist and I have 470hp at the hubs 17psi. It's hilarious fun to drive now.

No grip problems with a 255/40 17x9 I use pilot sport 4s. They are an epic tyre.

Happy Bank Holiday weekend to you all, little more progress...

First of all, let's just just appreciate the stock-ness of it all  ... But it's all going to make way for something a little more awesome

All in good shape, but a little crusty around the edges, so taking the opportunity now for a little clean up and give the block and bay a bit of love, because once it's back in I won't want to take it back out again.

So there she sits... It's soo small! Too funny, especially considering I've had the 4G63 out of the Evo earlier in the week, small but perfectly formed as they say

And one very bare bay, I don't think I'll be going super mental with it, it won't be full on show quality, but enough to make me feel proud and not embarrassed to open the bonnet ever.

48612362042_a634abb15e_k.jpg

So here she is, back and post spruce up, nothing too in depth, just some scrubbing and spray paint. Also test fitted the manifold - first time really seeing it properly, J'adore.

Wiring is nearly there, just some bits to take off to accommodate the single turbo-ness.

So sitting pretty, really happy but have a couple of issues to figure out - It's all part of the process, but still annoying...

First up the very expensive CJ Motorsport kit doesn't like my injectors, the primary rail and injectors went on fine, but the secondary rail spacers are too tall, not by a lot, but by enough. I can't be doing with order more bits from America, so going to lathe down the spacers and run a snugger fit instead. Hopefully that should sort it once and for all.

Secondly the clutch, OS Giken STR-2C, isn's supplied with a counter weight, so I'm having to re-use the standard one, I'm assuming this is okay?

Third up: the water/meth kit tank doesn't fit nicely against the back of the seats like I'd planned, it sticks up beyond the seats (it's too high) debating what to do and potentially use the water bottle for the moment, until I may be buy a SakeBomb version? Although the water bottle in the back is tiny... So a bit unsure, but the UIM needs to be drilled and tapped first, so that'll be last on the list.

And lastly, the dump tubes seem a little odd in the orientation, I was trying to make them match up to Rob's style that I saw in his thread, but I'm not sure if it was the the heat, but couldn't get them to sit like this...

@rob fd How did you fit yours? Also did you grind / cut yours to achieve the slash finish?

Yeah I ground mine to get the angeI i wanted. It's a bit of a fuck on to get them right to be fair.

When I removed my engine a few weeks ago i left the gates exactly how they were on the car to save the pisstake of doing it again. You want the gates to be sat like this. The dump with the bend at the front of the engine. Then once they are down mark with a pen and cut. I just rammed microfiber up the dump tubes and just got under the car with grinder. Also you wont be able to fit the engine with the dump tubes on the gates due to steering rack. Good look and try not to swear to much lol its tight and extremely awkward lol.

Man do they sound awesome at full chat lol.
