Hi all,
I have managed to pick up a decent set of OEM rear spats for the FD and in the right colour. My question to you all is what attachment does the factory fitted sets use. I have got the little plastic hole filler on the rear arches which leave a metal square hole when removed and both of the square rubber grommets in the underside of the rear arches which again leaves a square hole in the body panel when removed. See photos

I don't want to just use a self tapper that will bite into the metal of the panel as that will break the paint and open the area up to rusting. Also I just want it to be as OEM as I can.

thanks

There must be someone with OEM rear spats on their cars who would take a couple of pics for me?? PLEASE.

I'll take a look and get a pic next time im down the garage, but wont be until the weekend..

looking myself at that, aren't the grommets you removed actually what they screw in to?

You could get some nice stainless self tappers and if the square grommets don't fit well, new ones, and it's a tidy job done.
The screws don't touch the paintwork, just expand the grommets into their square holes.

No, I think they are not the ones to screw into. The ones that I have removed are the rubber square lumps. The spats won't sit flush to the panel with them in place.

You have to remove the rubber ones on the car, then use a grommet and screw when fitting them back on..... let me have a look to see if i have photos. Took me a while to find the right Grommets that fitted.

Thanks for the reply and the info, I would have certainly gone with that option had I literally not just got back from the car, I fitted them using the OEM style plastic screw in fixings. Got a large mixed tub of about 100000 of them on eBay ages ago.
They seem to hold nicely and they both fit like a glove.

think the car looks sexy with them on, not that its a huge change.
