Mirror Positioning

I picked up some OEM mirrors at the weekend.

I previously had F1 style mirrors which had a "base plate" glued onto the car, I've fetched these off expecting to see a hole for the mirrors but no such luck.

Does anyone have a position for this hole before i start poking holes in things?

Don't know of a position but is it worth pulling the door card offand looking from the inside? Iirc the mirrors are screwed into captive nuts in the door panel

There is actually a slight recess in the door for the mirriors. Definitely go from the inside maybe drill a small pilot hole to locate correctly.

It would appear then that mine have been smoothed over, i will have a look from the inside. cheers folks

So it appears someone has welded a plate over the holes and blended it in with filler

I've started picking at the filler but just want to make sure i dont go too far.

Can someone send me a picture of the position of the mirror in relation to the triangle above?

if you sand it all down to bare metal you should be able to find it, bummer.
