Ellz’s LsFd build

Had a chance to offer up the plate today pretty happy it fits
Gave it a lick of crackle black and it’s finished
Just need to get some time to set it up

I need to get my head around bump steer still. It looks pretty simple but I've just spent 20 mins staring at diagrams and it still hasn't clicked how it works out! Tbf though, you've saved yourself a wedge on building that gauge ellz 👌

If the instant centre doesn't line in, what do you adjust? The track rods so they line through the top and bottom arms is it?

So using the bump steer gauge I tried to dial it out and found that I couldn’t with 17” wheels so made some rack spacers to lift the rack as high as possible managed to get 16mm without hitting the sump

also got some new inner cv’s too which were and absolute cunt the holes were 8mm for my m10 bolts
Gave up in the end
CV grease is horrendous

Ended my CV joint nightmare today by drilling the holes out to 11mm ideally I’d have drilled them to 10.2 but I couldn’t buy one in Homebase
Took the car for a small drive and the noise seems to have gone so success

Had the rx7 two years today it’s flown by
Lots of pain and suffering

took the car out for a nice longdrive the other day had no issues miles per gallon are bad but not too bad enjoying the car though and getting more confidence with it day by day

I have managed to sort the hesitation by changing the map sensor out
The way I have it mounted has meant the old one has oil in it which has stopped it working as well as it should I will probably have to remote mount the map sensor eventually to prevent this happening again

Agreed, on road my LS3 is 20-30MPG. Pulls about 2k at 80mph. On runs out to Belgium/Germany my 3.2l M3 buddies have to pull in for fuel before me. On track I'm around 8MPG.

I gave up with the closed loop PCV. The oil separation isn't that sophisticated and consistently found oil in the intake manifold. I catch around 0.5l of oil on track.

You did better than me. Took 2 years and 7 months to get the car on the road.

Been quiet for a while been enjoying the car take it out most weekends
Fuel economy isn’t as bad as the obd2 reader suggests returning around 21-22 mpg on a combined cycle
Cars been faultless
Still need to get it tuned but my house purchase is taking priority at the moment

Looks good and good that its been faultless.

What do you need tuning? You could try Carl Herkes who works with Luis Sola for tuning

Finally got to the bottom of my running issue today

after probably a year of the car feeling down on power I bought hp tuners and started logging and found out that I was registering a lot of knock under full throttle

knowing that my fuel systems up to the job and I’m running decent fuel this seemed strange
Long story short I had pinched the two knock sensor cables last time I had the intake manifold off so the ecu was pulling 8 degrees timing every time the throttle was open more than 20%

found it today and repaired the wires for the meantime while I wait for my new sensors and harness to arrive

drove around logging for 30 mins and the car didn’t pull any timing and felt great!
