cib24's 1999 Mazda RX-7 Type RS

Oh yeah, I totally know that. I didn't mean to imply that my car is somehow worth £40k like the Spirit R. I meant it more as the value of good FDs are rising so what would a car like mine theoretically sell for today? My guess is somewhere in the 20s range but not really sure where. In the end it doesn't matter too much at the moment since I don't intend to sell it unless I get rich enough overnight to buy something like a Lotus Exige Cup 430 or Evora GT430. Pipe dream.
for a price comparison for you. recently a 2000 rz with 60k on clock didn't sell in uk for 21k and it was in good nick. ( friend of mine was selling it) its been shipped over seas in the end

True, I saw that car in person. Paint was nice for being original, interior was a B, although the compression results weren't fantastic but it was an original motor so that was cool.

Anyway, does anyone know of a good copy for a Vin plate screw? I am missing one and want the replacement to look consistent and not affect the threads.

Your best off taking the remaining one out and matching it up somewhere, I imagine they're pretty standard screws tbh so I wouldn't worry about damaging the threads, give it a try and if it screws in nicely its the right size lol.

Looks awesome mate

Any reason why you do used this guy instead of the guy who did the paint correction before?

Yeah, well it comes down to level of skill and OCD I suppose. Rob from Gleam Machine that did my FD paint correction is simply on another level compared to Daryl of Offset Detailing in my view, and naturally his price reflects that. Daryl hasn't been doing this as long as Rob and I would say his skills are probably 7-8/10 compared to Rob. Rob has a level of attention to detail that is hard to match and he has a real knack for being able to correct a panel as far as possible (without damage) no matter how difficult the clear might be to work with, whereas Daryl doesn't quite have that ability.

In my view, Daryl is fine to use for a paint enhancement to keep things tip top but Rob is the guy you want to use when you want a high end paint correction. However, Daryl is better at cleaning interiors and engine bays if that matters to you.

The price reflects the difference in reputation and skill. A similar paint correction job from Daryl would have probably cost me 1/2 to 2/3 what I paid Rob but I'm confident it wouldn't have been as good and he wouldn't be the type of guy to remove trim, polish up lights and glass, polish and treat the non-exterior paint areas, etc. to the same extent..

The finish looks amazing - definitely some skills and OCD there, but that's what you pay for (y)

Yup yup. I'm a happy dude but now that I can find the imperfections in the paint job under the clear I wish I could fix them! Haha.

My car reviewed sort of on track by JayEmm at Blyton Park on Monday. He loves it and so did the 964 driver that drove my car as well. He was asking me all about them and how much to buy one. Also, that Lotus Exige 360 Cup was insane. I went for a ride in it and the brakes are nuts and it's just so glued down!

Yeah, the car is filthy. It was pouring rain on the way up to the track the night before and I had to drive down a muddy single track b road. And it poured again on the way home but at least the track day was dry!

I'm not even sure how to wash it since it's so dirty!

Haha I can give you a tip..... don't send it back to the million dollar man who cleaned it for you a few weeks ago ? don't get me wrong, his work is awesome but the prices are just not for a weekly basis ?

Ha! I did ask him how I even start to clean this thing and at least he gave me advice. Citrus wash and a pressure washer...I don't own a pressure washer and we don't have any that are anywhere near me where I live at any petrol stations. Haha. I'll figure it out.

Do you have a large Sainsburys with a jet wash? Use that for a contactless clean, do not use the foam brush, just the wheel cleaner, hot shampoo, and then high pressure rinse. You may find two sessions should get it fairly clean, but the mixtures are quite diluted on those machines, so just allow the shampoo to dwell for a while before your pressure rinse.

Not aware of one nearby in my part of London but there must be one somewhere. I'll have a look.

You need to change your definition of dirty Roy.... I won't post any pics coz you'll just cry

Just watched that vid with the guy that reviewed your car, so on their website they have an event coming up at blyton for £199 is that the same thing you went on with only 10-15 cars? if so that's a cracking price.

Mud caked on the sills. Like I went offroading.

And to answer your question, yes. Similar event and possibly another one in September. The low numbers and free food provided sells it for me.
