A perfect time to visit North Wales and the lovely Anglesey circuit and surrounding scenery which includes the Evo Triangle, roads through and around Betws-y-Coed and the infamous Snowdonia mountain.

The track day is on a Monday but we could meet up for a driving and social weekend on Saturday in and around the area. There are several fantastic driving roads, interesting scenery, lots of castles, beer, sheep and you will even hear a foreign language being spoken in places!

Anyone up for it? Happy to look up accommodation and work with any locals on here about driving routes and things to see.

Alright, I have taken an initial look at accommodation and whether you stay in scenic Betws-y-Coed, Caernarfon, Brecon Beacons, Anglesey or Bangor the price per head for 3 nights (Saturday afternoon to Tuesday morning) per person is coming out to about £160-200. Most places are glorified B&Bs or hotels which is fine by me.

I'd personally like to see if we can get some commitments soon to lock in the good track day price and hotel rates, and fortunately for us this track day is before the August holidays really kick off across the UK.

Initial itinerary ideas are to meet at the B&B or hotel on Saturday afternoon/evening for dinner and drinks.

Sunday, would be the big driving and sightseeing day. An example of one route excluding any tourism stops would involve us seeing the Evo Triangle, scenic route around Snowdonia anti-clockwise which would take us through Llyn Ogwen, Caernarfon and the scenic Llanberis pass. And there is plenty more we could explore if given enough time. An example of a route to sample some great driving roads and scenery.

Monday would be a dedicated track day until about 2 or 3pm, and then we could head for a blast around Anglesey and have amazing fish and chips at the Coastal Cafe or similar.

Tuesday morning we would check out and head home.

Fucking fuck roy I really wanna do this! I'm gonna do some figures n see if I can join you for the 3rd! Dya reckon next weekend I can give an answer? Will book the mx in for mot for next weekend!
 
And I am coming in the mx. I'll travel up on the sunday, not sure if I'm gonna camp out or hotel then meet up Monday! I might have a sneaky stop off at the loop to see if I can see any planes on the way up 😄
 
I've been on these roads.. what's going to happen is that you are all going to have more fun driving to the track then the actual track day itself.

Might be up for coming along for the road trip there n back

Yes, the driving is fun noting the speed cameras on the Evo Triangle, but the track is very scenic, even on a semi-clear day and it's quite technical. Some snapshots of my trip to Snowdonia and Anglesey in my FD back in 2016 - back when it was stock and wasn't yet resprayed/restored.

It will be so much more fun with a convoy of like-minded people enjoying the driving, track day and social interactions.

Ok, I have had a first go at an itinerary which would involve about 350 miles of driving together as a group on Sunday and Monday (excluding the track day mileage), and whatever extra mileage it takes you to get to the Brecon Beacons.

Have a look at the link below and give me feedback on the itinerary. Particularly if it's too ambitious on the Sunday.

Ponderosa is my stomping ground so i'll join from there. If I put the 7 back on the road this year i'll take part in all the driving bits, if not i'll skip most the driving :)

Also the food at the Ponderosa is your bog standard chips and beans however, at the bottom of the run up to the Ponderosa is a pub called the corn mil. Nice food and it overlooks the water/train track (old school trains, steam and jazz).

I can't believe this is where you live. I am very jealous! Such amazing roads all around, great hiking, food, etc. Besides tourism what is the industry out there nowadays anyway?

As for the pub suggestion, I like yours better than the Ponderosa Cafe so thanks for the tip!

As a North Welshman, do you think the driving from just South of Brecon Beacons on Saturday morning all over north wales and through Snowdonia is achievable in a single day if we stop for lunch?

I suppose the good thing is that once we are up and around Snowdonia those that tire of driving can always b-line it straight to the Anglesey Arms while the rest of us continue the tour.
