Oem Headlight Cover

Ordered a new set of concept 7 headlights yesterday....arrived today. So exceptionally fast delivery. Will test the fitment soon...but from the pics above i wont be loosing any sleep over the side fitment. Long as the top looks perfect which it does...but most importantly the tabs on these look heavy duty.

This one is concept 7, from the top looks good but fitment on one side is real bad, no matter how u manipulate the plastic trim it just doesnt look good.

Ignore the bad paint on it , that was me 😂

OMG lol my old car was like that on both sides too - how long have they been making these? I put it down to the black plastic surround being old - clearly not.

The amount of time I wasted trying to get them in flush.....🤦‍♂️

Nope my trims are correct, ive only ever replaced one cover and fitmet with oem cover was perfect before, is a shame as quality seems good and tabs are strong too , just look bad when up, also others have the same issue.

Looks like its luck of the draw with these

I've ordered a new set of concept 7 so this looks promising. They are at a body shop getting paint; so I'll be able to confirm the side fitment hopefully before the weekend.

He must have changed his molds or something because there was no way I could have gotten mine to fit like that.

My comment on this isn’t related to the concept 7 fitment.

Surely the OEM parts only end up flying off due to broken tabs because numptys lean on them while they are working in the engine bay?

Id imagine if u lean on them that wouldnt help, but u would have to be a real lemon head to lean on your headlight covers to be honest.

They just get old and brittle, then one day u drive down the road at the national speed limit and they just fly off 😂.

Such a common issue really.

Thanks Taj1961 for posting up the pictures (y)
Just to confirm these were a fresh set of covers taken out the moulds Thursday which i threw into the motor housings and popped the plastics on. fitment is as shown no messing around no nonsense.

I feel the need to come on here and put to bed some of the comments made referring to our headlight covers.
There seems to be a suggestive undertone that there is a problem with our covers. Now im sure you all have a basic idea how you copy existing products ie the moulding process.. iIn this case we have taken a pair of OEM (ABS) headlight covers and moulded from them. This mould produces piesces that are identical (shrinkage is negligible) copy of the host (scratches and all lol) !! No variance no hit and miss !!
That said wear can occur to the moulds when the piesces are trimmed. as we trim in the moulds themselves (see pics). This effects just the corner points and happens only slightly over a period of time. Now some time ago we had a comment which allerted us of this so we placed a stock cover back in the moulds and sure enought there was a couple of mm discrepancy. Immediately we re-built up the moulds and re shaped them against stock covers. This is a process we now check regular and adjust as necessary. but i must point out striaght lines are not effected its corners that are. Other than this the piesces are replicated as OEM every time !!
If we now turn our attention to the positioning of the tabs we have built our own comprehensive jigs which secure the covers as if they were in a moulds scenario, then a metal frame pivots down over the top which has locators on for the tabs. They are then attached and glued into position, there is no way of this varying in any way the position of the tabs its a precise bit of engineering and again does not give chance of any 'hit or miss' scenario.
Now i cannot speak for the fitting skills of the covers or the associated plastic front cowlings thats over to you guys (I have showed you what they are like in the post above) but you need to understand this. ANY PROBLEMS YOU ARE HAVING WITH OUR COVERS YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE WITH OEM COVERS.
In actual fact the tabs on our covers have a wider slot (8mm) and are longer than stock to provide a greater range of adjustment over stock.
We all know FD body parts are aged now and ABS does go brittle with age and can twist and warp with heat so at half the price or less than OEM for piesces that dont have these issues its just a no brainer for me
Thanks for reading and hope this post setles any doubts we will continue to produce quality manufactured and fitting products for the FD and thank you all for your valued and continued support.
New products coming soon - OEM rear spats and OEM 99 spec wing for now.
Regards
Martin

Hi Martin thanks for commenting! I’d like to add that when I ordered your light cover (June 2018) the outer side (the part that curves) curved far too inwards to the light assembly. This was absolutely no modification involved and I have 3 different sets of OEM covers for the same side that I can post here for comparison. The cover is durable and well made and when the lights are down you can’t tell it apart from OEM, I was just pointing out a fitment issue I had. There was no way I could have made that side flush with the cover unless I used a heat gun and applied lots of force to bend it outwards. I ultimately settled with it.
