Ellz’s LsFd build

Reported myself, what the hell was I drinking / doing last night..... this is why the other half should not give me access to the interballs after a trip to the pub, many apologies... I hope this was the only post last night otherwise there's lots of apologies needing posting.
Hahaha classic

Haha no worries chap drink lots of water

So I realised I couldn’t take the easy way out by just swapping out the gearbox
So I picked up a e36 lsd diff with a 2.94 ratio
Which should sort the gearing out
Gonna have to modify the subframe to accept it but the prop should bolt straight up which is nice

Will be interested how the BMW diff works out as I need to do change mine, currently running the standard 4.1 manual diff!

Good lad, what you planning on spinning the engine to?

You coming to any of the meets this year, so im not the only t1t with a V8?

I can’t remember the red line as is
But I think it’s around 6
Currently 1-4 are useless just hope it’s a simple job sticking it in

Finished the coolant tank
Got the Cnc guy at work to make me some barb fittings

also picked up a big metal puzzle to help me do the diff swap

Are you rebuilding an 8.8 diff yourself? PITA having to stretch the casing accurately.

Yep, going to try myself. The case stretching was something I found out more recently. I have got some stuff to try and make one, but not sure it's going to be strong enough. Though I am not 100% sure why you need one if you are not changing any of the gears. The shims should be the correct size anyway.

I trusted a specialist to do the job of fitting a Torsen T2R. It whined like hell. After pulling it out and sending it back he still didn't manage to sort it and had a trackday the following day. Used 2 pieces of very heavy angle, some studding and a DTI. You need to stretch the case accurately so you can assemble the shims for a snug fit. When you let the case return to its normal position it applies the correct preload on the bearings. There is a manual available online. It's not a simple job. All I did was increase the preload equally on each side. That way the gear mesh stayed the same.

Had a move around today and got the Rex on the ramp
It’s tight to get in and I’m gonna have to take the skirts off as they are gonna snap off soon
