I had to drive home in the 7 from Essex at 10.00pm on Tuesday evening -4 and even driving like Miss Daisy I had
a few brown trouser moments, I will not be taking her out again while the white stuff is about, let alone
taking her out to play.
After kerbing a mint set of period bbs alloys in my tr7 v8 I stopped driving rear wheel drive cars in the snow. It just upset me too much damaging the car, and that was just 1 wheel, totalling it would have have been gutting.
I’m a little more realistic now, but still agree with the general view that these cars are too fragile and unpredictable to use in this weather.

On a different note, I had to go out last night so took the old van (04 vivaro) guy in front (67 plate 1 series) couldn’t get his car up a mild slope on the shopping centre, my heavily battered van ( now 3x written off) just pulled off as normal and round him. Rwd cars are shit in the snow still, even without massively wide rear tyres. I would have given him a push but as my ribs are still fdocd and I struggle to lift a kettle, I decided to follow docs orders. Plus it’s cold out and it’s a bmw driver!!

This is so weird, just going out, I love on a tiny side road that is NEVER in 25 years been gritted. The road is virtually snow free, but the main road is loaded with snow and grit. The snow on the path over the road is about 2ft deep.

Yeah the side impact bars and door reinforcement was added in September 2000, so VINs 600001 and up. It added a fair bit of weight, so Mazda had to revisit the rest of the car and try to make some weight savings, removing various features like boot lights, designing a new carpet etc to claw back the precious grams, this is why various parts are resigned for the later cars.

You can see some of the bars in those crash pictures. At least it was only a type B :p.

That's what I thought because I made sure to check this the first or second time I had the door cards off of my 99.

Bloody hell matt ? my big Bro won't be going to work Monday I know that much! He's meant to be up there!

That’s proper snow, it took me 40 minutes to do 1/3 of a mile yesterday due to a sprinkle of snow on the roads.

Actually it took about 10 minutes to decide fuck this I’m going back Jaime and the rest of the time to get back
