Hi all,
Just drove my fd to and through Essex for mapping and the whole car is permenantly requiring correction to the steering to keep it straight in 70mph+ speeds. Entinatly I thought it was high winds and me not being used to the car but stu also commented on how bad it was.

I have noticed also when coming off throttle the rear end seems to scoot about aswell, the cars going to be 4wheel alighted over the next couple of evenings depending when I can fit it in to rule this out but my guess is diff.

Main questions are, is there anyway I can check the rear diff before removal as in if I turn the prop will the wheels act a certain way being Torsen etc or anything similar?

Secondly I’m wondering to stop breaking them or such like is it worth gearbox and diff bracing I’ve always been concerned about vibration and extra cabin noice.
Are they worth it? Are they noisy as hell?

Thanks
Mark

Rear diff bushes are near enough brand new poly ones. Are are we talking wishbone bushes etc...? passed Mot about a month ago though no advisories on it?

Rear bushes / pillowballs sound shot.
IMO not really worth having alignment done unless you have good bushes etc

Last weeks fd delivery direct from Auz

Yeh that's what I meant. It's all the 20+ year old bushes you might have going on all around the car.

Ok well it seems A conclusive answer I’ll bang all the bushes out then. We’re the best for pillowballs is it Mazda oem?
Best for bushes?

By the way I’m off to France in 3-4weeks and need everything mint by the time I leave.

Thanks for everyone’s input I’m getting a bit panicky now being so close to the big drive lol

I'd suggest going Mazda OEM for pillowballs. J-Auto seem a bit hit or miss and don't always seem to last that long...

Superpro make the best bushes available for the FD. You'll need a pair of oem rear inner lower control arm bushes as Superpro do not make these. They do not make this bush as it just isn't as good at its job if poly, stick with oem for this one.

Mines been through 2 MOT's no advisories, its not really turned a wheel since last MOT but working on it last month I noticed the rear toe arm bushes are as soft as cake. You can see the play just by pushing on the hub. This would explian why things start to feel like the back end is not properly planted at 120+. As the guy I use for MOT's says, its just a bare minimum test of the vehicle, and I've taken cars in that I know have problem that pass without any issue or advisory, he's also quite picky - gave me and advisory for a slightly bent towbar!
My view is its more cost effective to change the lot and just pay to have it setup once, than keep changing a bush here and there and keep taking it back in. That kit was about £310 landed, wish I had added the Superpro Rear LCA inner when I ordered it.

I have had 3 J-Autos fail on me now.

Not sure you really need to replace the OEM rear bushes as they don't really seem to wear. Assuming we are talking about the same bushings I am thinking of?

You need to replace bushes cos they are 20 years old. Trust me. They will be fubar.

Tbh I dunno how you gonna manage this in a few weeks.. it takes a while for stuff to show up and then you have to replace it on top

Yeh I bet it's the rear toe control arms. You can buy uprated ones of them. Swap them and see if it helps ya wobbly back end 😅

The mods on this forum are utterly childish.

But I did have big sweaty bollocks the other week

You'd love my new car Nas. It has cooled seats!

Super pro and Mazda are the places to go for bushes (y)

Whole suspension needs to come off and you'd be lucky to find a UK supplier with stock of FD bushes

Thank you very much, did you get stung on duty at all? How long did it take to get here?

That's a good price. I paid about 400 I think all in and thought that's was good.
Budget 25% for VAT and duty
