Sump brace

Hi, just wondering what sump braces people are using and you’re opinions on them.

im planning on getting one for my fd to hopefully help with a small oil leak I have, but the only one I can find with groves to supposedly fit properly is from elite rotary shop.

do the grooves actually matter, or will a flat one from Essex rotary etc work the same?

thanks

That’s what I was thinking to help squeeze it better, but most seem to just be flat with no groves cut in

If you really need the grooves.... then just buy the Essex one and have a miller put the grooves in for you - it'll be cheaper than the other ones...

Yeh you could but tbh I think it'll cost more like that. The squiggles that stick up are not entirely straight

The Chips one isn't that expensive really, before all the shipping and duty gets added on anyway...

Think I may stick with the elite rotary one. It looks very similar to the chips one, but is around $60 cheaper before shipping as they have 25% off for Black Friday running atm.

Not sure how much the import duty will add once it gets here, only issue is the shipping cost is $66 on its own.

The grooves won't matter in a 5mm piece of steel no.

Has anyone got one lying around? I would be in the market for one too?

I was under the impression the grooves helped it get a proper seal whereas without it wouldn’t be so good?

If it’s not really going to make any difference I may just get the Essex one as it’s around £50 cheaper all in.

You need grooves on the Pan yes, but the brace sits on top of the pan to stop it from flexing.

Put it this way I had a sump leak, fitted a brace with no grooves (not essex rotary one), and now it doesn't leak.

Essex rotary it is then, I need speed bleeders anyway so can get it all in one go.

Thanks for the input

I can imagine the the Mazda engineers now -
'Shall we add squiggles?'
'Is that an engineering term?'
"Yes'
'Then Yes, we need squiggles'

Haha yea I was struggling to think of the word to describe them that was the closest I could get.

There's so much wrong with my statement. I think I should apologise
