Single Turbo Set up (opinions)

I spent just over 1k on my fuel system including new fuel lines etc. Out of interest whats your fuel system consist of?

ID 2200, ID 725 - these were about £800
DM pri, sec rail - another £250 ish
So there's an easy grand already
Turbo smart FPR
Pressure, temperature sensor
Supra fuel pump
Baffle tank
Pipework & fittings, cost me around £100-150 and I stole most of it from work
All bought new so...

I know some people go for three fuel pumps and swirl pots etc. which I haven't got

Fuuuck... my fuel system was mega cheap compared

2nd hand 1680 indy blues in a Billet Bitz rail - £200
Machined primary rail for 850s + welding AN fittings - £70
Injector servicing for all four - £40
FJO driver - £50
Aeromotive FPR - circa £200
Radium FPD - £80
GST450 pump - £100
Fittings and hose - £100ish

Under a grand but still a lot more than most budget for when building on paper.

Just to add for a different perspective. My single cost less than 2k all done and mapped. I did already have some of the more important items like fuel pump, fmic twin power and WI though. Keeping twins is a great call as the twins are awesome and simply swapping a set of twins isn't a bad job. Otherwise if you want to go single keep a look out for an older turbo hopefully a used kit. A to4e - to4s or t60-t62 will all get you good power and spool on standard ports. Hks copy manifolds can be had for a couple of hundred quid new but many of the used kits come with the manifold, wastegate and possibly dp all in. I've seen these kits used going for 600-£1000 on uk rx7 forums countless times and its just been ready with the money. With a used kit you may need to find some bolts yourself etc or worse case a bit of welding. Used fuel pumps injectors and rails come up for sale now and again but secondary inj/rail and fittings is less than £400 new from dm.

If you do all the work yourself it keeps the costs down but still your gonna need to do some major bargain hunting to get down to your budget.

My system is very similar.. ID725/ID1700, DM rails, Turbos mart fpr, pressure sensor, baffle, gst450 and all new lines... maybe my man math made it cheaper in my head lol

Back on topic, as people have mentioned, you'd be best off waiting for a decent secondhand kit to come up for sale but you'll most likely still need a bit more in the budget

I'm pretty sure there's something up for auction on eBay at the moment might be worth taking a look at that

Not that it will be much help, mines on single setup, but I’ve regretted not having a car with twins. Purely for the drivablity as its mostly used for weekend jolly’s

Cheers for the input lads, ya now im finding that the fuel system is costing more than any of the rest of the stuff.

I have sourced a borg s632 turbo with manifold and turbosmart progate second hand but looks in good condition and has just been rebuilt.
i now need to definitely think about what fuel set up i want to run, would running 1680 secondaries and stock primaries be an option or 850cc primaries and stock secondaries or just do the two of them and be done with it?

They call them 1680s the "buckets" you are looking at a very classic type of setup there.

I got some 850s in a primary rail if you need them... also have a supra pump somewhere.

Like the others. I went and got the injector dynamics 1050x and the 1700x as well as fuel rails and a turbosmart FPR. I didn't use braided hose I made a hard line fuel system had to buy a specialist tool to do it. But I also used it to make hard lines for the oil and coolant feed.

Are you gonna be doing all this stuff yourself?

I'm running 1680 secondaries and standard primaries on a single setup runs really good I've got a aeromotive fpr and I've got a r33 gtr fuel pump laying about that was in my fd when I bought it I changed it to a slightly more powerful one

Ya i will be tackling this stuff by myself and with the help of a few mates.
what money is on the primaries ?
i will also be looking for a fpr if anyone has one lying around i think my pump should be sufficient to run the injectors.

What sort of power are you achieving with that set up?
Thats what I am inclining to do, is just run upgraded secondaries.

ill be ok for a pump, are you selling a fpr?

I'm at 340 atm as my boost controller is broken and won't open its second solenoid and I need a bigger intercooler I've not got a fpr for sale but they do pop up every now and again that's with and apexi ecu

I think there's a few custom secondary rails on eBay atm and injectors

Primaries if you collect it's a tenner (Leeds). Want me to post then it's a 20 quid.

They already in the fuel rail etc..

I got a secondary rail, the newer bosch 1650s, a fuelab fpr and all fittings from DM and with a bosch 044 pump. I am 400+bhp at 80% inj duty after mapping.
