I picked up a set of side skirts a long time back and planning to have them fitted to the car when repainting the car.

The skirts are in pretty average condition, lots of cracks and the odd gouge. Has anybody any tips on what to repair these with given they're some form of polyurethane. I'd like to be armed with some info when talking to my paint guy.

The paint side of it should be less complicated as there are many flexible panels on modern cars with the like of Renault using alot of plastic wings for example.

Basically, flexible primer and flexible paint needs to be used.

It's a different material so will not colour match on the first try most likely.

It will crack again as you drive and the chassis moves and twists. It's just the nature of them, but if you do a good job on the refurb and paint you'll go 12-18 months before you see anything minor showing up, and even then you won't see those little cracks until your are 3-5 feet away from them looking for them.

Was searching the US forum and seems an almost impossible. There are some significant gouges and cracks, more than just hairlines so will need some form of a filler.

I know you can get fibreglass copies but think I'd rather go without the skirts than have fibreglass
