The money pit continues.

Working through my project car and have come to looking at the rear suspension & brakes. As you can see on the pic my rear anti roll bar drop link has been cut...... now, before i go trying to get hold of some (assume the other side the same) is there any reason this was done? cant see any myself but really cant see/understand why its been cut.

Also, rear brake shoes have no shims on it..... my understanding is they are not essential? am i wrong

Thanks for any advice

Yep, agree..... just do get why someone would cut it....

When you say the roll bar looks odd? what do you mean.

Cheers

I’m guessing someone was changing the rear shock and couldn’t get the movement on the drop link to get it out of the shock mount. So they just cut it in half lol.

Agree with you Jit, probably couldn't undo bolt on ARB side.

Just that it seems odd to cut it - agree with the others that someone probably didn't have the ability to fit it properly so cut it.

Can confirm the other side is cut too . Got two replacements on the way.

Thanks for all the opinions/thoughts.

Cheers

Haha who ever done that probably didn't realise that if you raise the whole rear of the car it makes them bolts alot easier to remove! I found out the hard way.....hit mine with a hammer and it snapped when I was noob to fds 🙈

I think I took the mounts off when I did mine?

Not remove the arm just disconnect the arb mount and it flops about enough to take the links out.

You only need to jam a 17mm in to stop it turning.

Then undo the nut.

Butcher cut straight though lol

Think it 14mm? but yeah your right. spanner on the backsorts it.

Anyway why don't you use rose joints? Will be cheaper than buying FD stock plastic ones lol

Yeh probably is 14. Can't remember now. But it's such a piece of piss to remove I still can't believe someone did this haha

Thanks for the advice and tips. Yeah going through the whole car..... the loose brake calipers on the front should of been the give away of what was to come......lol Granted the car was sold as a project car.

Put up a project thread mate. Be good to see progress. Edit- just realised there is one!
