Power steering not working

Hi all,
I have a strange one. I have fitted my old power steering pump into my new shell. It’s spinning and not making any weird noises.
I’m getting pressure on the output/banjo bolt and also after the power steering cooler.
Feels like there is no assistance at all though.
Tyre pressure is ok. I have filled the reservoir and spun the steering left rights loads of times to try and bleed it out.

Any ideas or other checks I can do?

I had an odd fault with mine, it seemed to over power and was dangerously light steering. This was after it was ran dry for about 100miles after it sprung a leak.

I got another secondhand stripped both down and use the best parts from both. Along with a new bearing.

It's now fine. So perhaps could be similar for you?

Or maybe if your getting pressure could be the actual rack? Leaking past its seals? Another pump would be easier to prove that than stripping the rack

Yeah could be, I’ll have to try and find another one.
I could swap the rack out to my old one as that was working.
It’s a good point on rack seals, this shell had been sat for about 15 years, could well have failed I’ll have to see if I can see any leaks, maybe there is loads in the bellows, as I couldn’t see any other signs of leads.
