Just realised that there's nowhere to put suspension questions @Matt or am I mistaken/blind/lazy?

Anyway..... I bought some tein coilovers from thong last year or the year before and cleaned them up! My collars are locked to hell, I've tried wd40, atf/psf, spanners, heat and a fecking chisel on them with no joy!

Anyone done any tried n tested ideas that worked? Wife suggested fairy liquid, maybe worth a go!

Also, anyone know where I can get collars at a decent price? I've found some at 40 quid a pop but come on, by the time I buy a full set I may as well have just bought new coilovers!

Cheers

Ooh I've just dug a little deeper, seems tein actually do them at a tidy price 😎 don't feel so bad about destroying the lock collars now! Hopefully the spring seats will be ok 😂

I have had this happen before mate. I used stuff called Wurth Rostoff.
Sprayed it on and let it soak, the collars moved no bother after.

Same thing happened to mine and they all broke coming off.

At the time i couldn't find the lock rings as everywhere i looked said they were obsolete and discontinued.
Made my own in the end which was and interesting experience cutting a huge thread on a tiny ally ring.

I'm not 100% sure on my model but the locking collars were around 10 to 15 each. I'll do a screen shot now Paul 👍

So the top shot is lower spring seat and bottom pic is the lock collars 👍

Yeah mine too! Gonna try this rostoff stuff first then a blunted air chisel 😎 hopefully I'll knock the fuckers off 👍

Haha you know that's quite dangerous right? 😂 I actually got the heat gun on the lock rings last year before finding out that there's a good chance the can blow up 😂

I aint stupid enough to try that, going to be a bitch to cut off. Probs safer to just bin them

I've also found some cheaper options, sorry for no link as I have the ebay app and doesn't give a url at the top and i cba to find a proper page atm lol.

I searched....... coilover lock ring
And cheaper options came up but you'd have to look up your thread sizes to match them up with what's there 👍

Tbh I'll prob just bin them, I've a set of gab's i can put on while i work out what to replace them with.

Oh my wew! !!!! This stuff is the greatest thing ever invented! I won't say the collars flew off but because I have nothing to fix the shocks to without fitting them to the car I blunted a bolster and proceeded with a hammer! I've done all 4 in 20 mins! Be warned if you try this method though it doesn't come without consiquence! My knuckles are thrashed lol but they're now loose and only broke 1 ring 😎
