I have a RE-A Dolphin and generic mid-pipe (made by RX Motors I believe, way back when). I repacked the Dolphin with Acousta Fil a while ago and it's seriously quiet, just about to do the same with my mid-pipe.

Yep, I do and thats with an open screamer, not by much though. I'm currently getting it plumbed back in but that doesn't affect the static test anyway.
Is croft static only or do they monitor noise on track, I'm there on Monday, it's 105db limit and paperwork mentions how they will check the static but no mention of drive by

The RE-A back box reduces down inside so won't be any good for Rob. I replaced mine as it was to restrictive

Yes they do Robbo they have a fly by test just before sunny in after the jim Clark esses. Or they did unless something's changed.

You should be fine if you pass the static though. I got around with an unsilenced nurspec for most of a day.

When i have been in the past its only ever been static. But thats not to say they aint monitoring as you go. I think you will be fine, they probably only flag you if its insane when you come down the pit straight.

Edit: Just seen Neils post, guess they do have a flyby, if your paranoid just lift as you go past.

Well now i always thought it was only static after my jolly round with the nurspec in 2014 as that was blowing 109db first attempt on the static with the bung fitted.I managed to pass by revving low but they have a watcher nowadays. The bung blew out on the second fast lap and i i continued on until around 2pm. I have no idea how loud it was at that point but think 115-120db would be a fair guess and tbh i was getting a lot of funny looks by the marshalls. After this the sound guy asked me if i wouldnt mind re-testing but i said i was done for the day anyway so just packed up and done one!.

Last year i pulled the sound tester gadgy and asked him where the fly by noise meter was and the above is what he told me. Could it be shite? possibly? I'm not sure but i have never let off before the braking zone coming into sunny and never had a problem. My last static in may was 104.9dB with the watcher keeping a keen eye.

I'm also taking my evo which has a blitz nur spec straight through so im more worried about that. I checked it static last night and got 104.9 on my works tester.

I think the fd will be fine but going to check that static tonight

You can always stuff a bit of wire wool in the exhaust, should considerably drop the noise but will burn out after around 30 mins...

@rob fd my new back box is actually a blitz nur spec! I never looked for any markings before. I've still got the mid silencer in place rather than a straight decat as shown in this old photo

Im getting more and more drawn to the racing beat systems I must admit. But i worry i will miss the sound on a spirited b road drive. That been said I intend on getting a good amount of track days in next year so it's a tricky one.

Not sure how loud it is as i've not had chance to to swap over. But the other system is unholy loud. It was fun for the first few weeks then just pissed me off.
When Martin put the racing beat system up i had to have it. I was going to get a tgs twin system as that looks very well made and is only a bit louder than the rb

TGS 3.5" custom, dolphin tail, was pretty quiet / just about right on twins but i think it's a little loud for me now I'm on single, so might downgrade to 3" but will see what it's like when it's back on the road,

@rob fd I just noise tested mine at 5500rpm and got 104.8. Louder than I was expecting. Just hope I get away with it on croft tester on Monday
