Everytime I open the boot on the fd water streams into the boot..
I thought it was the boot spoiler as I knew there were was a broken stud and the gaskets were non existent.

so I removed the spoiler and plugged up the holes with bungs and a bit of sealant, thought this would cure it, opened it yesterday and water pissed out again 😑👍🏼
Any ideas?
The window seal looks ok

Might be worth popping all the plastics, take parcel shelf out and whacking a hose pipe on and around the boot and maybe get someone in the boot to look eg a small child!

Check the plastic clip fixings the rear triangles screw into. Also the rear wiper rubber

If you still have a rear wiper arm, you can replace the rubber boot with a universal ball joint boot. That’s what I did to mine and it fixed the leak problem I had...I first thought it was my weather stripping.

Think I’m going to do this.

wiper has been removed and plugged.

so Im guessing it mite be where the glass is bonded to the tailgate?

does the outer trim piece that runs around the whole glass act as a water tight seal? Or is it just a visual thing?

Cheers for the help so far guys 👍🏼👍🏼

How's the fog light wiring routed? Mine had an extra wire just poked through around the outside of the rubber grommet for the other bumper lights - that caused a puddle in the spare wheel well once.

Mine had this, took me ages to find lol! Sounds like op has it coming from plastic trim when boot is opened though!

Remove the plastic plugs that the rear light covers screw into, these leak into the boot. Fill them with silicone and put them back. Weatherstripping is also a prime leak source.

I had a problem like this i took thw big rubber seal off and soaked it in the bath to get all the crap out of it and took all the plastics off around the tail lights and clean the drains out never had a problem since then and make sure that the seal is sat correctly as it only takes a little piece of it not to be seated right and it doesnt seal against the hatch

it was a tight fit getting the wiper unit back in, but I’ve never had a leak since. It seems like there are many different causes for a boot leak, best idea is to go down the list. First I thought it was my spoiler so I used rubber washers where the bolts go. Then I noticed my wiper arm assembly was rusted and there was a rust spot looked under it on the plastic trim so I resealed it and that did the trick

Hi mate I had this exact issue on my fd, i had removed the spoiler so like you thought it was that but it was actually the rear window seal. A glass company used proper window adhesive glue to fix the gap. My leak was particularly bad and whenever I lifted the boot it would flood out into the boot from the boot lid.

This sounds like my issue, everytime the boot is opened water just floods out of where the side trims are.

I think I mite get something out to have a look and also try running a hose over it whilst someone’s looking at it from the boot..

Which glass company? Autoglass or similar?
