Going single, but have i made the right choice in parts to get me there...

The s362 sxe aka 8376 would be a good turbo for your goals - room in it to wind up the boost in future for just over 500hp with the right porting but shouldn’t spool too bad on stock ports.

clutch wise I would recommend the xtreme cushioned ceramic. Almost stock feel and will hold loads of power.

I’m thinking this one in this trim.. S300sx

Unless any of the other trims would be better suited....

Thanks for the help greatly appreciated !

Looks a much better match than the current turbo. However, best to also check with your tuner and let them weigh in with their opinion before you buy anything. Ultimately they will be mapping the car so best to ask them what turbo would work well and also talk to them about your power goals etc..

Keep it. Old school reliable turbo. It will start coming on strong after 4k . 18 to 20psi with 500cc of water will be about 450whp. Even stock port rotaries flow a fuck load of air.

Cheers for the help guys. Will take a look at the 8376 tomorrow and give stu and jay a message, see where I stand on getting the car mapped with them 😀

Again talk to stu and Jay first but I'm with Adam. If your happy with some lag it will be a monster once in boost

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Also ask stu a question for your own peace of mind, what would happen if your water injection fails when you are full throttle at 20psi? stu told me something in this regard years ago but I don't remember now.

If you're going to buy another one then get this unless you find a nice used T04S, GT35 or similar for sale that doesn't need to be rebuilt.

S362-SXE with a 0.91 A/R. This should spool on stock ports by about 3.5k give or take and has a power band that will last beyond 7k when stock ports start giving up.

i do like the idea of going for the 8376. But in which variant... SX at £686 or the SXE at £914? My pocket says the SX and inner child says SXE  .

Guess the SXE is newer version or build using better lighter compressor wheel or something.

Will see what the guys at rotor torque say. Will try and give them a ring later. Im sure i saw a number on a thread somewhere.

Will keep the thread updated (y)

Sxe, but get in touch with Tom at advocult as he did a great deal on mine

some good info here which may interest you. However, not sure about their rwhp numbers tbh...take that with a pinch of salt.

I spoke with Stu yesterday. Super helpful guy gave me some advice on the bits i selected to buy so will probably change a couple of the items on his recommendation. Sent him over some photos of the current t78 as he wanted to see what exhaust housing is on it, to see if we could make it work, just waiting for a response on that, but the more i look at the BW s300sxe 8376 the more it appeals to me haha so i think i will order one of them. As that should spool ok on stock ports and then when im ready for rebuild and porting will carry me forward :D

So i'm changing to a Quantum 340 fuel pump, Aeromotive FPR and one of Stu's clutches he sells.

Sounds good dude. For peace of mind have you had your stock engine compression tested before you spend all these monies?

The plan sounds good though but if stu thinks that t78 will work than save the monies dude!

I think you're local to me so we can get some dragy gps runs of your car when its all sorted. :D

it was compression tested about 2 years ago think. mid 7's. only done around 3k since then.

Well it will work BUT not likely to make positive boost until gone 4.2k and full boost gone 5k, which yes may be a laugh and giggle, but not exactly what i was after. haha. As much as its cool to open the bonnet and see a dustbin lid sat there i think for what i want out of it the best option is to go smaller.

Yeah man im over in Penarth and defo game for a bit of that when we are allowed out and about, and the car is working obviously ! :D

Sounds good dude and If you like old JDM vids; the smaller turbos with circa 400-430bhp are able to keep up with the bigger 500+bhp cars on track use.
, driven well by taka in the white 430bhp rx7 against tshchiya in a 550bhp car....faster but not disappearing into the distance. Maybe on a track like silverstone GP it would be a different story....but small tight tracks a 400bhp rx7 is all you need.

Deffo dude, soon as this mad lockdown is over and you're mapped and ready, we can do some draggy runs :D

400hp is all you need in llandow  . My brakes were useless on that track mind, just faded out really quickly.

Soooo i bought the S362 SXE :D Wahooo. Need to get on with buying the rest of the bits and getting it all installed. Easier said than done with my 7 month old son mind haha.

To you guys that have gone single i assume i can just unplug and remove everything twin turbo related. Ive left in the solenoid that looks like its for fuel emissions and runs to the small cylinder that bolts under the throttle body and then to fuel lines. Do i just leave the wiring loom plugs there and tucked away for now?

As everything is out are there any worthwhile mods or things i should be blanking off or doing? (i already dont have air pump and thats already blanked off. )

Even 350bhp at lladow is plenty :ROFLMAO:

Thats a sweet turbo dude....I think you will be very happy with that.

My car was single from the beginning so not entirely sure of what needs deleting...but stu will be able to help you with the single turbo loom.

If you are running an oem OMP, perhaps better to delete it and run premix instead and get a blanking plate for the omp.

Get an idler pulley to ensure there is no belt slippage for your water pump.

What are your plans about your fuel, ignition and cooling system?

Yeah i'm pretty sure i will be ! It was the right decision.

Yeah i will ask him, im pretty sure i can just leave the plugs there. Further down the line i could delete them and make a single loom.

Yeah still have the OMP. i did look into this and i keep on seeing conflicting info some say remove and some say keep.

Idler pully (DM Motorsports) i have, i just hope turbo doesnt sit where it sits. The T78 did !

Fuel ive ordered all the main bits like fuel pump, injectors, fpr just need to sort fittings to get it plumbed in.

Ignition is currently stock havent looked into this as of yet.

Cooling i have a vmount now which i havent used yet. This came with an ali rad and twin spals (which i need to work out how to wire in to the loom so they still switch on with PFC and with my AC button if possible)

Will heat wrap DP/mani and might look into turbo blanket.
