Hi guys,

The little pin that holds the fuel filler door shut keeps getting stuck open when I open the fuel filler door. I need to use a knife or something sharp to pull it back out in order to close the door and keep it shut. Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening?

Thanks in advance

Id try a bit of wd40 or some other kind of penetrating lube, mine does this sometimes but i find if i push the lever down and let it "ping" back up it is usually enough for it to pop back out

I've done that a few times. WD40 and lubricating oil as well. Maybe I need to keep doing it and eventually it'll lube itself up enough.

This happened to me the other day too, i just gave it a clean up and seems fine now.
Try a silicone lubricant rather than WD40, works a lot better for things like that.

Yeah WD do a silicone varient now which I use. My catch did the same. Its usually the wire inside the cable so press the catch in with a little screwdriver and try and spray some silicone spray in. Then actuate the catch a lot. Worked for me.

Mine did that for years. I used to use the key to pull it back out.

Last time I had the boot plastics out I took it all apart and cleaned it was full of gunk. Works a treat now, actually easier to get to than I thought

Cool, I might give that a go as well. Didn't realise it was that easy to get to.

The car came back from getting that area painted and started doing it.

Well you have to take the rear interior out which means taking out the rear quarters, so it's not the easiest job.
But once its out the way its just there.

I've just got it sorted. After taking the mechanism out, I saw that the pin had been bent (the guy painting it must have done something because it worked before going in) so I bent it back into place and it's all good now.
