First turbo not as powerful as the second one

It seems whenever I'm driving my fd the first turbo is spooling but not as much power as I would expect then whenever I'm moving up onto the second turbo there is a real lag then all the power is let loose whenever I'm in the second turbo

Would anyone on here have any idea what would be wrong with the first turbo and how do I get it to have a balance between the 2 turbos with no lag cheers

Does it have a boost gauge? Boost pattern should be roughly 10-8-10 psi (dip for the transition. First thing is to check for boost leaks.

I'm not too experienced on twins but it could be a fault with the charge control valve in the y-pipe, either not operating or sticking. If it's not sealing/shutting the flap, boost pressure from primary turbo will go through and vent the boost out of the CRV charge relief valve i think. Have someone look at the small actuator on top of the y pipe which controls this, when you start the engine and see it should move with vacuum to shut

Get a boost gauge.

Usually if there’s anything wrong with the primary then the secondary won’t be able to spool up. The ‘lag’ you’re describing is probably the transition when the second turbo is brought in; the system works by pre-spooling the secondary before feeding both to the intake.

Tbh it sounds like it’s working normally, you’d need to tell us how much boost you’re making.
