Experience with Shadow Rotary rebuilds?

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, I've sent an apex seal of my RX7 FD into oblivion, so I'm currently looking for a suitable specialist to rebuild the engine.

I've got my eye on Shadow Rotary, as they are based in Ireland and I wouldn't have to pay any import duties or customs charges due to EU regulations (I'm from Germany).

Has anyone had any experience with rebuilds from Shadow Rotary? Their website looks very professional, Google reviews are excellent, but I can't find any other reports. Their prices are absolutely fair. Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences.

How much are the shipping fees to Ireland compared to uk?

If you use OPR and the company in the UK is VAT registered then taxes will be about the same - zero VAT from UK company and you only pay tax on return for the cost of repairs and new parts and shipping. Have a look at outward processing relief.

There are different import forms about goods that are being shipped for repair and then coming back. Which obviously you dont pay import duties on.

We do it at work all the time in reverse. Send stuff from the UK to RU for repair and then back again.

Unfortunately I've no idea exactly how to do it! You need a freight forwarder qholl sort it out for you.

There must be other EU places? Perhaps have a look on rx7club?
