Hi folks.

Doing my research, reading full build threads, Francob and Copyninja being current favourites.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a 4 speed auto and changing the box almost immediately, autos are a good bit cheaper and aren't too heavily modified, some maths required on the costs with this route.

Hold out for the car you want, these are 30 year old cars now and getting a good gearbox is getting harder. I doubt the difference in price would justify the cost of conversion

Plenty of boxes around for £500. Cost in parts to rebuild is around £600

I sold a decent manual box recently for £600. EBay has a few currently for £700-£1000 mark.

As above you can still get many of the OEM parts from Mazda - synchros etc.
