Anyone bought one recently? I'm looking for recommendations or is any universal one ok?
I know they aren't great long term for the paint/general rubbing, but it'd just be a month or two under cover before moving into a garage for the winter.

£100+ Hamilton Car Cover - Last 2yrs, polishes car when windy (soft lining, breathable) if you have large wing I am told they can rip.
£100+ Stormforce - Last 2yrs, good overall protection, breathable
£60? Halfords - Last2yrs, good overall protection same as above, breathable (old style non vented)
£70 Halfords - New style vented, breathable (not reading good reports...)
Other - Have tried cheaper plastic type covers (nonbreathable) not good for the paintwork...

*Good idea to remove covers after heavy rain to completely dry car out and remove tiny dust/sand residue and shake out cover.
**Large size covers are probably not made for aftermarket rear wings.

Be careful Andy. There's been lots of posts in the past about car covers ruining paint! I left tarpaulin over the front when my engine came out before I'd hears about car covers making trouble with paint and low and behold it left what can only be described as a cum stain on my wing that has never polished out!

haha! Yeah that's what I'm worried about. The fleece lined ones sound good but way outside my budget of 50ish quid lol

Which size would be best out of those Halfords covers - medium or large?

I'm not too worried about marks on the paintwork as its going for a full respray next year. Just need a cover in the meantime so I can remove some parts for sale.

That was me!!!!

I'll agree on the non breathable types ruining paintwork :(
I had one over my kit car which I had sprayed in Dodge Viper blue, at the time it cost a fair bit.
It's now got mini bubbles all over. I only covered it in the garage because of my wood and metal working.

Ah cheers, are these the two halfords ones you are talking about? Assume the £37 one is the older style, seems worth a shot for the money
https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-accessories/car-covers-tarpaulins/halfords-car-cover-medium (£37)
https://www.halfords.com/motoring/c...paulins/halfords-all-seasons-car-cover-medium (£70)

Never tried the blue one and would suggest not good for out doors as only 'showerproof' which means water between car and cover..
£70 is the one I have not tried and am reading is 'gash' and not worth the money.

Also 'medium' will be too small

What ever you get make sure the car is clean before using it. If you don't any movement will be rubbing that dirt into your paint!

Not sure what to do now, seems like there are quite a lot of horror stories! think I'll give it a miss and borrow someones garage/find somewhere covered, don't fancy spending big money on a cover. Thanks for all the advice guys

Yeah is a minefield mate. Nice cool sunny day......wash and wax once every 2 months 👍
