My 98 FD has unfortunately received some front end damage where front bumper is cracked, front splitter split both sides and the fiberglass bumper support punctured/split on the near side. Due to the unavailability and expense of several parts new and used I'm looking to go down the repair route. I'm aware the bumper ABS composite can be welded, and hopefully the splitter (which may be tricky as its textured), but I'm concerned about safety implications with the fiberglass support repair. How it appears to me is that the support offers no crash impact protection and is there purely as a structural support for the flexible bumper - is this right?
After all this, are there any body shops in Berkshire that come recommended to carry out the work for me?
