SignUp Now!I tried to find an alternative to redline for the gearbox, but it has to be GL4 as the syncros are brass, but alot of brands don't say if it's GL 4 or 5 so redline was then the best option.
I use mobil one oil for the diff but you could get any for that.
what problems have you been having?I'm using Royal Purple 79-90 for the gearbox, (advice form EssexRotary)
Any Idea if its GL5? Ive had a few drivetrain problems so if not I'll swap it out for Redline..

good to hear it's sorted... magical things gearboxes are. in case i need to budget for it, how much was the rebuild labour?LOL Fair enough, I don't have a bottle to check but after a google I cant find a mention of GL for Royal Purple.
The box was rebuilt twice whithin a month lol. First time was for syncros and bearings, the second time it stuck in gear 2 weeks after it was re-buit.
That was covered by warranty from the place the did the box, and they paid fitting labour too. Cost them more than it did me in the end.
Rather have the right oil after what Joe said now, but it's been perfect since anyway.

sounds a deal. my synchros are slow when cold. hopefully the oil suggested in this thread will resolve it.The place charged £350 for doing the box - they didn't fit it they're only a gearbox and diff builder so no ramps etc.
I doubt it's a thing many will need to do tho, my car crunched hard into second sometimes when i first got it, wasn't consistent at first but gradually got properly bad.

ohMight make it a little better but i wouldn't hold your breathe. Mine is notchy when cold but goes away once warmed up. Also running the redline stuff in box and diff.
