2002 Bathurst - Innocent Blue - initialDean Build

Ok Thanks Guys.... I too have very little time with 2 kids etc....
Will probably end up sending to someone...

Do you think they would let me shadow them or at least watch what they are doing?

Thinking WGT is my best shout....

I dont actually think 3k for a brand new engine is bad at all to he fair.
Ive not seen any brand new engines for 3grand mate. Last i saw was crate engines for £4750.

If Dean can get a brand new mazda engine for 3k then that's deffo the way to go.

I've seen people saying they can be full of damp rusty water as they have been sat on a shelf somewhere for a long time.

I guess it depends on how damaged mine is though. I dont think it will be ruined.

My bad lol. For some reason I had it in my head i had seen them for 3k 🤷‍♂️ must be a age thing.

In similar boat. Once my car's back together I'll be watching the comp numbers carefully, the moment they drop any further I'll be dropping the engine out. I've made decision I'll be definitely opting for a new engine though (as long as I've managed to save enough by then as have second sprog on way next month).

I presume as long as housings aren't screwed if you get a new engine you can also sell the old one to offset some cost.

Ah ok yes I have seen this before actually....

What if by some chance my engine has been ported by a Jedi master and is really worth keeping? :)

Hmm...I thought your car had a potential issue internally with a seal, but if it were an issue then it was apparently diagnosed at the time as a fix that would not require you to junk the housings, rotors, etc. without taking the motor apart you won't know how good or bad the damage is or if it's just a bad corner seal or something. A tear down and rebuild using all of the same parts except for new seals would be significantly cheaper and I didn't get the impression on the dyno day that it was anything major. The car wouldn't have started or run if it was.

So, you're telling me there is a chance? :)

So if the Apex seal has gone but its not done much damage to the rest of the engine it would not mean a complete rebuild?
Still not going to be cheap is it lets face it haha

Unfortunately my car started and ran with a chipped seal. It looked very very similar to the compression seen here, low on two chuffs.

It idled fine, and drove ok only having an issue revving under load from 1.5-3k. Above 3k it was fine hence why i was still screaming around croft. It was the boost gauge needle bouncing a tiny bit on idle that concerned me enough to call it a day.
