So, my indicators stopped working, and I'm also in the middle of trying to make sense of the hot mess that the wiring is in my car

Having had an engine swap, and 30 years of people fiddling with bits and pieces, portions of the wiring harness are nothing like the diagrams, and some sections that look OK, but just aren't actually connected to anything, it's all kind of a mess.
As a result I've been on a quest to make sense of and fix annoying things, I've had issues with electrics as long as I've had the car, and now is the time to make it right.
Before I started on pulling things apart and fixing them the indicators had already stopped, and I'm pretty sure it's not the TNS relay, as I've seen that one clicking away and making the circuit come alive happily.
So I pulled CPU#2 out and had a look, the flasher unit looks OK no obviously leaking cap etc, but then It got me wondering, what is CPU#2 actually doing, the non-flasher section, that is.
From what I can work out, it does:
- the seatbelt/lights warning buzzer stuff, none of which have ever made a peep as long as I've had it.
- anti theft stuff probably also never did anything while I've had it, it had a Thatcham alarm which certainly was good at going off all the time.
- and I think that the power windows get main power from it?
But does it actually do anything I _need_? Say if I had a working flasher unit, but left the rest of F110/CPU#2 out of the picture entirely, would anything that really matters not work? or at least MOT-able things?
