I really wanted to get these floor mats and boot liner but couldn’t afford them at the time
they look wicked!Dear lord I am such a bad FD owner.
This year has been a bit mad, passed my bike test and been riding in my spare time to drill that new skill and my other cars have taken a massive chunk of time and money this year
. Coupled with working a rediculous amount. So the FD has not moved much, but got a drive out yesterday for her annual check up and oil service at TPS.
Always enjoy popping up to see the guys and a good excuse for a drive out.
When I first arrived it was like popping back in time, with another Japanese legend in the workshop at the same time.
Originally a Top Secret tuned car, a family members car of the chap that owns TPS. Currently for sale I believe. Fantastic to see one, and it sounded amazing when fired up!
After much chatting and semi working on the 7 the stock airbox was out and in came the carbon.
It does look achingly good in the bay, fitted beautifully with only some trimming to stock air pipes to get it all fitted.
While she was up in the air I decided to take some photos just to catalogue how the old girls doing, and I can confirm, still basically immaculate, I hate using that word but I truely think she is.
Had a lovely drive home and after I parked up, popped the bonnet, to check no issues on the roughly hour drive back. I found 2 areas that had very minimal rubbing of the PPF so I did the diy bit of popping some foam tabs on the bonnet just to mitigate that.
Oh and there is definitely more whooshy induction noises. I always forget how visceral the car can feel, vibrations and noise that come through are intoxicating. What a thing.
Must do better next year, she is going into storage in October.

She came out of storage and basically took a trip straight to the bodyshop to get the spoiler quoted for as this had to get done. No longer could I deal with peeling paint! Then off for an MOT, which she obviously passed with flying colours.
A week or so went by and I whipped the spoiler off the old girl ready for drop off.
Gosh, that is alot of gunk on the lid!
All the bits disassembled and on the floor. Unfortunately one bolt snapped off, so that had to get drilled out.
Just a little example of some of the paint peeling. Every wash would take more and more paint off. It was really starting to let the car down as you can see.
Quick wipe down of the boot lid! Do not mind the spoilerless look either.
Off the bits went and took a few weeks longer than anticipated, I just stuck some rubber bungs in the spoiler holes to keep any water out (heatwave UK conditions put paid to any rain)
Came back from paint and I could then make DIY gaskets for the "feet". Fingers crossed I did a half decent job as you can no longer buy the OEM gaskets. All fixings have been replaced with some stainless steel items, a little bit of grease in there to hopefully keep the threads free for the future.
Finally back on the car! I think the paint match is pretty good, the rest of the car is filthy. With a hosepipe ban the clean can wait a little bit. Makes me feel so much better now it is done.
Managed to miss GoJapan because I got called out at work first thing in the morning!
But have done some trundling around to work and back, taking my stepson out in the car as well to give her a good ripping.
