looking for a garage to update my electrics and do mapping, tried a few and none are willing/able to do it so continuing to look for a garage that is OK with more challenging work and isnt a scammer

thanks

I dare say Rotortorque can sort all your problems and give you a drive away solution. What you will have to decide is if your happy to wait and pay for the right team to do your work.

Regular tuning places will all tell you they tune rotaries and map afrs 11 flat across the board. Stick with the proven and recommended.

been messaging him for two years no luck, obv busy with other stuff - my car is a mess and a headache, I expect garages are more interested in work like engine rebuilds and servicing jobs where they know the outcomes and can predictably turn around the job and get paid quickly, they could spend a day puzzling over my car before work even starts and thats all time they probably feel they cant really charge for, meanwhile they have a que of rebuilds and more familiar projects that they know they can do in weeks and earn more from. So its DIY effort I think but thanks to you guys I think I now have a plan - 1. Get Modern ECU, 2. Plug & play into Digidash for speedo 3. Wire lights and indicators to OEM stalks still on my steering column. 4. Wire up horn and anything else for MOT on new/separate circuits'. 5. Tidy up wiring mess, 6. Rewire power steering . 7. Download base map or try and get a map emailed through from a mapper somewhere that has done a similar big turbo single map.

Thanks

Is dragon no longer trading?
no idea, it went there 2 years ago to have a fuel pump controller fitted but they were unfortunately it was not a success - the bill for trying/failing was 700 quid and the car came back same as it went in minus the 700 quid for them to attempt/puzzle/quit - it then went on to another Honda garage in Plymouth where they sacked off the fuel controller and fitted a relay in its place - so the total bll inc trailer transport was over 2k just to have a 10 quid relay/fuse crudely bolted on to the battery mounting bracket as a temporary hack to get the car to start.

he is busy - no luck there unf - thats the thing, there is plenty of work available working on more OEM builds where I am sure there are far less headaches - mine is a clusterfk of mods and probably looks like a nightmare
Being honest though, how long can you wait? If you can wait 6-12 months then get in the queue with Sri and jay?

If not then rip it all out and bang stock back in.. that’s what I would honestly do. Fuck all the old shit off 👍🏻

who is Sri please? if you meant Stu/Jaydee then I think thats a dead end, ive been messaging him maybe 2 years now and I dont think im in any que, last time we spoke he said he would have a think about how best to proceed and let me know but ive chased up since then a few times that was maybe 6-8 months ago and nothing - I think its just a pain in the ass job no one wants, not when they can probably do engine rebuilds one a day for 3/4k each these days?

Ive aleady got OEM looms and stalks, think I will plug in a modern ECU, connect digi dash and go from there with a remote tuner

Do you have any time to work on it yourself? I used a pdm for mine and it was pretty painless to get working. Greater upfront cost but save a lot on labour?

thanks Marco, yes I do have some time and yes I have been considering a PDM - but I havent got a clue how to fit one, where did you learn to do it? thanks

Er I learnt as I went along. I got one with a flying lead that helped but not necessary tbh. The things that caught me out were 'nice to haves' like battery isolator, canbus comms with ecu and doing fancy stuff like that, fuel pump contollers etc. The basics of 'wire from here to here and back to ground was all pretty self explanatory. Feel free to drop me a message if you want more info mate

Took me 12 months to do mine on the drive. Its a huge undertaking.
I'd cut the wire off at the plug after the stalks and started fresh.
Fusebox lives behind the passenger seat. I tidied it up over lockdown because I removed my rollcage and reinstalled a full interior.
I've got LinkG4 ECU and a digital dash.
It wasn't the most tidy in the world and I made quite a few mistakes. I worked from the Mazda wiring diagram and then made each circuit work.

If you go for a new ECU get something with plenty of sensor inputs, then the dash can run straight off CANBUS, only a single wire then.

I bought a special gizmo from USA that let me use the stock mazda fuel level sensor on the digital dash.

WGT used to offer it as a service, maybe Pip could recommend an electrician that can undertake the work (maybe ???)

Watched your video and I had a headache watching it but i do like our enthusiasm trying to get it street legal. I can understand why no one wants to take on this job immediately/asap. You are not wrong either as most shops can do a rebuild with far less effort than try to figure out the wiring mess in your car. Try Tim at Rx Motors, he miraculously fixed my electrical abs issues which many pro shops were unable to fix.

option 1 (cheapest) - who did this job? take it back to them and beg to get it road worthy :ROFLMAO: as they are most likely the only few who will be able to understand how to integrate stuff into this harness or why it was even done this way?!likely the cheapest option. Although you've spent over £700 without any results so far!

option 2 (not cheap) - start fresh, new link g4x ecu, fuel tech / modern ecu of your choice etc and new custom loom. I doubt any reputable tuner will be able to do this work for cheap because its technical. New ECU £1-2k, £1.5k for new loom and up to 1k for a full map depending on who does it. Plus another 1k for digi dash - this could cost anywhere from £3.5k+ (If money is no object then contact https://www.renvale.com/ they are probably one of the very few tech experts who might be able to build a loom etc with your current setup....assuming they take on the job.)

option 3 - learn to build custom looms and how to map with hp academy and it all comes down to how quickly you can grasp/apply it to the problems you have.

Other end of the scale
