Hi guys, just wondering what width and profile people are using on 8 and 9 inch wide 17's. I've bought a set of volk racing winning forged alloys which are nice and light and because i want a bigger wider tyre to cope with the power im aiming for. Around 450hp.

Thanks.

For 8, and 9s you want 235 and 255s respectively
thats what I have on my BBS IMG_4185.JPG

Juat a stock body, not sure on the offset as i didnt look but theres plenty of room both sides of the rim. but looking at initialdean's pic 255's will be fine on the rear. Is that stock ride height? @initialDean.

Maybe a little on the high side, but they do clear even on my old shit shocks

I had 17 x 9 front and 17 x 9.5 rear with 20 and 25 offsets and still the 235 255 combo worked perfect without any issue and fit the arches

I've got some enkei rf1s ready to fit on my fd 8j et45. Standard height and arches haven't been rolled or anything, looking at 235 width tyre. Not many options with the 40 tyre wall but loads with the 45.
Would the 45 wall be ok on the front and rear or is it safer going for the 235/40 17r.

235/45R17 is stock size and with being 5mm closer to the arch than stock et50 isn't going to cause a problem. You'll only start to encounter problems at c. et30 and pushing low ride height.

Go with 235/45's up front and you could go with 255/40R17 on the rear which is the stock tyre size on the OEM 17's

Ok thanks for the info, tried checking fourms online but most info seems to be on really wide rims.
Any idea why its 40 on the back? Guessing because of the shocks as quite a bit arch gap with the 16" 8 (225/50 16r) currently. What I found on willtheyfit with the 17" with the 40 wall tyre its 5mm less than what I have in arch gap. Then with the 45 wall tyre I loose 6mm arch gap.

Thanks for the help again

It's 40 on the back due to 255 width, so this size brings the diameter as close as possible to 235/45 on the front (and 225/50 on 16s).
