Morning all.

Currently loving my car on twins. It’s been recently rebuilt with a standard port etc.

However how much do we think it would be to do a single turbo conversion.

I already have an Apexi power fc and Apexi Titanium exhaust etc. I assume I would need fuel pump, injectors, manifold, turbo, external wastegagte.

I wouldn’t be after big power. Maybe 350-400. Is it worth it?

This is mine at the moment.

For 350-400 I would stay on twins provided they're working reliably. To get that high on twins you would still need to uprate the fuel system and WMI would be advisable. Do that and you'll be one step nearer when you decide to go for a bigger single later. :devilish:

Id recommend single turbo, If you have the budget the new EFR turbos produce more power and torque that twins and full chat at 2800 rpm.

too much to go wrong on twin turbos IMO. Been there done that .

Budget around £3000 for turbo parts and ancillaries and maybe a further £1000 or so for installation and tuning. I think for a good boost curve using stock ports, the Borg Warner EFR 8374 with 0.92 a/r is a decent sizing for the power goals you are looking for without going crazy on boost pressure.

Fuel system: £1000-£1500
Manifold/downpipe: £500-1000
Turbo: £600-1800
Clutch £500-700
Ignition: £300-400
ECU: £500-1200
Mapping: £300-500
Exhaust: £500-800
Intercooler/rad: £700-1000 (some kits are £2.5k)
Misc. hoses, clips, pipes, bolts etc. £500

This obviously depends on which turbo you end up going for and power goals / drive ability
Also list is parts only, no labour.
Assuming new, you can obviously find some bargains on the second hand market.

If I was you I'd run it on twins a while longer, upgrade the fuel system, then get some AEM coils, then get a new clutch, then go single once all the supporting mods are in place.

I have an ACT clutch already but would need ignition etc.

Maybe it’s best to stay twins. What would be “safe”setup on twins. Can you raise the boost to 0.9 Bar etc.

Yep i agree i would also persist with twins while they are working well. Also learning the limits on twins is worth doing.

I'd say as you are, but will need a fuel system for much more boost than that, minimum would be FPR with increased base pressure. but I'd do a full upgrade in preparation for single turbo, ie new rails, ID injectors, fuel pump.

Fuelsystem_ Gst450, Stock lines, Dm or similar secondary rail with 1600cc injecors and a reg. max £400 and that would do for around 500bhp IMO

also depends if you can do things yourself. Manifold, ebay, make downpipe, turbo and wg with lines all under £600 if you can do it yourself :) Kits are obviously a diffrent question.

running 1bar on twins is no problem with a bigger fuel pump and a fpr nothing more. I ran 1.2bar on this fuel set up. I would recommend AEM WI also.

Like Joe said you will need a new secondary rail and injectors once you go single.

Just depends on what you want to spend tbh

My set up has cost less than a grand plus mapping. That is on top of what i already had on twins off course

Stick with twins.

Put direct electric feed to fuel pump. Ideally put a Warlbro 450 in tank. Fit an fpr and if your car is an early one check voltage at coils and poss do a direct electric feed to the main ignition circuit. Then book yourself in to get it mapped by jaydee.

That will give you safe power in the region of what you want.

Thanks everyone. I think I will stick with twins for now.

My engine has just been rebuilt by Jaydee and mapped by him also so might as well take it back to him and get him to do the above list and shoot for a .bar

Good call

I bought mine with a single turbo setup, shortly after I was wishing I had twins to start out with (mainly due to the piss poor mods done to the car). From what I’ve read since, you can get similar power and more drivablity from the twins.

Well I went for id2000's and they're over £400 on there own :eek:o_O

I was somewhere between 330 and 410bhp on twins at 1.2bar which jason mapped. I reliably tracked this set up for years surprising many supercars. The only fuel and ign mods i did were a twin power bosch 044 and fpr. Right or wrong this is how i rolled as i felt too many parts are bought as safety nets which tbh if its to be, its to be.

Have a chat to Jason he has known my car for many years, seem many others and owns one similar. You can't go wrong.
