Yellow Speed Racing coilovers

Save your money and go for a proven decent set - don’t buy them just because they are cheap. They’ll still be making money on those...

As said go with some decent coilovers for not much more £££.

Rotortorque recomended meister r coilovers to me a couple of weeks ago, around £800 , il be getting some to replace my worn ohlins soon 🙂.

MeisterR are generally considered the best budget suspension going. I previously has HSD's didn't overly think they were great.

Ohlins to meister..... 🤦‍♂️

Tbf the ohlins i have suck, they need rebuilding, stu recomending changing them.

My car isnt sat on a ramp for the majority of its life i use it every day, the ohlins are back breaking on uk roads and overkill in my car, so rather then rebuild il replace with something recomended by one of the best uk rotary tuners 🙂

I went with a set of meisters from stu with the slightly stiffer spring rates, so far I'm impressed with them, they are not harsh on rough surfaces and seem good with high speed corners. I'll comment further after a track day.

Can you not just get the Ohlins damping adjusted to match a slightly softer set of springs if they need a re-build?

Ultimately they're premier grade suspension to Meister.

The price of rebuilding them is not worth it for me, i just need something a bit more comfortible and that dont need rebuilding every few years to be honest .

I know ohlins are reguarded as one of the best but to be honest ive never met anyone who daily drives with a set or even has a sat to compare to.

Jay recomend switching to meisters as theyl be brand new and also do everything the ohlins will do and cost less then having them rebuilt.

How much to rebuild the ohlins where you quoted?
Just interested as mine need doing

What Ohlins do you have? Some of their older sets have rediculous spring rates and the classic JDM "May as well be solid" damping. It's the DFV's most people are quoting when they say "Get Ohlins" these days.

Ohlins DFV's are more compliant and cause less NVH than oem Bathurst suspension in good condition.

Im not too sure but jay quoted on a set of nitrons being rebuilt after failing and said they were around 1100 and thats a set of coilover which wernt very old he said id be looking at a simlar price for ohlins to be built.

Mine are going on 10 odd years old id have thought.

I think Must be around 10 years old now ,i dont think they are the dfvs .

They will be Ohlins PCVs - I had these on my Supra when it was first imported. I'm not sure what the spring rates were, but they were a bit firm for UK roads, but still very well damped.

However, I did similar to you and naively replaced them with brand new Tein Flex (I won't bore you with the reasons why!) - it was not a good move, and I regretted it for every mile after! Not saying you would have the same thoughts, and not comparing Tein Flex from 15 years ago to Meister R's now, but I would seriously look at getting the Ohlins rebuilt. Give Aurok a call, you may be surprised at the price for a rebuild:

Thanks man , il give them a call and see what they can do , if its a decent price and they can sort out the harsh ride for something a bit softer i might be swayed to keeping them.

As said mine are pretty worn so im not holding much hope theyl be cheap to repair .

I've been recommending meisters for years but as usual the guys that paid 2k+ for their suspension always put a downer on them.
