So I have a cusco cage in mine, it's as high as it can go into the roof line and to the edge, I have ride seats on low rails, I am only 5ft10 but with a helmet on I need to angle my head and it rests on the bar, what have others done? I am looking at making some kind of other rail, or potentially removing the base sponge inserts on the seat when needing a helmet on. Also I have found since putting the cage in my right foot rests against the cage, making heal and toe practically impossible. Thinking about removing and refitting the pedals slightly over to the left.

I think headroom is an issue with all cages. I think I would have to lower the floor to make it work for me. I tried a car with a custom cages cage and it was prohibitively tight. Restricts the seat from reclining back and has a diagonal across the roof above your head.

I'm assuming the Cusco is a dash dodger type. They always look terrible for right foot/ankle clearance. The Custom Cages design was actually OK in that area despite the pedals being offset to the right in the car I tried.

Surely the cage would be designed in a way that the bars don't crossover directly above your head, surely there's enough room it's not like there are bars everywhere

This is the Custom Cages design.

To make the roof section ultimately stiff you need an X brace. If you sit with the seat all the way back then your lid makes contact with the corner where the X brace meets the roll bar. I would have cut that tube out to let me sit up straight, but the main roll bar was still too far forward for me ideally and you would also still bang your lid/head on the bar that runs above the door. There is definitely not enough room in an RX7 to comfortably accommodate a cage if you are average height or above. Cages work OK in cars that have the seat base much higher than the floor (eg my mates with their E36 M3's), as soon as you mount buckets on the floor you gain the clearance you need.

Bang on, Thanks for the sensible reply. It is a dash dodger, I don't need to move the pedals unless I want to heal toe, not finding it particualry comfy where it is, and I do sit quite far back which is why im hitting the cage with the helmet.
