K-sport hoses not fitting

Trying to get my ksport kit fitted but run into a problem. Can't get the braided hoses to join up to the cars lines. Both ends look about the same size but just seemed impossible to screw in. Gave up realising I was stripping threads after about 1 turn.

Anyone else had problems with ksports?

Any advice welcome. No idea what to do now other than put the oem brakes back on and sulk

Maybe worth trying to find out thread pitch for both. ......maybe one is a fine thread

Yeah I pinged Stu and he said that he thinks oe is 10 x 1 and K-sports are 10 x 1.25. Given how many people run k-sports, I'm surprised I've never seen anything written about this before.... Will have to seek professional help to get these fitted now! Running out of time before Blyton.

Maybe worth buying some copper pipe and a flare tool and some 1.0 pitch unions! Run a new brake line....prob cost you under 20 quid for the lot! A pain but a quick fix!

Yes oem m10x1.0 think that's standard Japanese but UD or UK might be different

Unlikely, can you not just re-use you're old flexy lines?

You're probably gonna need new lines or remake the brake pipe :(

So easy to redo brake lines too! Once you get used to flaring and then putting the union on before flaring 😂 sticks with you forever! Not changed brake lines in about 10 years! Hope I haven't just cursed myself 😂

Can't you get a thread changer/adapter from Pirtek?

Doesn't look like it.

I in no way trust myself to do this job :ROFLMAO:

Caliper connection is also different, so old lines not an option. New lines or pipe probably going to be a ballache to sort... :(

So no direct adapters for this, but could a combination of these 2 work, or will I just leak brake fluid everywhere?

Use the hel build a line page and get them made with the right fittings on the ends. Will be done and with you in a couple of days if you ring and tell them you need them quick

Let me guess they used 3/8 UNF?

We use m10x1.00 as you will know. looks the same but deffinatly isnt

Strange thing about this is that I bought the kit used off a guy who had them installed in his FD. It wasn't him who installed them though so he was surprised when I told him about it yesterday.

Anyway, I've followed Liam's recommendation and ordered some custom lines from HEL. Hopefully I'll finally be able to get these brakes fitted next weekend and then use the DynoTorque meet as an excuse to get some miles on the new pads ahead of Blyton! (y)
