Afternoon all

I'm after a little advice or help please.

we have a new exhaust system for my dads 1993 twin turbo, it is on a standard ECU and original twins.

the system we have purchased is HKS 3" downpipe with O2 sensor,
racing Beat de cat mid pipe with 3" pipe with mid silence box
rear HKS silent pipe Silent Hi Power back box

we know that we will have to unplug the air pump, or put a new pulley in replacement/ replace the belt for a shorter version, looking at the contact of the belt on the water pump.

but will we need to do anything more, some people have said that we need to put in a new waste gate or dump valve to stop boost creep or over boosting, as we are on a standard ECU will this exhaust be possible or do we still need to leave the CAt in place. it wont be on the road in the UK so emmisions wont be an issue.

thanks all in advance
Jim

If you fit the downpipe, midpipe and back box then you will need a remappable ECU. Leave the Catalyst in and you might be ok with downpipe and back box but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Although a remapable ecu is the best option, I ran a chipped ecu on this set up for a long time with no problems! I did have manual boost controllers in place at the time which never caused me any boost issues but as jit says, if you don't have a controller in place you will definately suffer from spikes and creeps which in turn will destroy your engine! But the definate safe option is getting yourself a nice remapable ecu and getting it mapped with those mods!

There’s a lovely chap selling a power FC for 8 bit cars at the moment 🙈

Too risky for standard ECU asking for trouble really. You need an aftermarket ECU.
Either apexi, link or adaptronic, do some research. Will alps depend on who you'll get to map it in your chosen country
