Oil pressure problems

Hi guys, im recently back to the fd scene after a long 6 years, with my latest purchase yesterday.

The car drives really well, but after a visit to wgt today for a power run and a compression test pip has mentioned my oil pressure.

The aftermarket guage is showing around 0.5-0.7 bar at idle and is averaging 2.5bar at 3500/4000 rpm.

Ive tried an anologue guage and its showing more or less the same base idle pressure but is reaching 3.8/4 bar pressure at 3500/4000 rpm.

Pip has made me aware i should be looking at around 2 bar idle and anywhere up to 6 bar under load ? Im not questioning pips professional opinion but looking for other peoples readings too.

After having a chat with pip he has mentioned starting and working his way through this process:

Thermal pallet,
Kinks in pipework etc,
Oil regulators i think it was?,
Sump,
Front cover o ring,
Worst case bearings.

I come from the age where you could pick up a nice clean example for 4.5k so after dropping 14k yesturday im really worried about the possibilty of it being the bearings and requiring a rebuild, bearing in mind this car was rebuilt 4000 miles ago last year, but by haywood rotary unfortunately.

Basically im just wondering if anyone has any advice, any common faults i can go through myself, or just any recommendations would be helpful, obviously i understand these piss money in the wind but if it was to come to a rebuild i would have too look at selling the car and salvage what money i can back and this is a road i dont want to go down.

Any help is grately appriciated and tia.

Dan.

What oil is in it? If is some super thin "race" oil you could try some regular 10/40 and see if that helps.

I've not heard of many genuine oil pressure issues tbh but hopefully some of the more mechanically minded lads can help.

It has 15w40 mineral triple qx oil so i believe the oil is fine but it has crossed my mind and pip seems to recommend this oil, thanks :)

How old is the oil, don't trust any cheap after market gauges

I'll buy it lol!

Oil is around 500 miles old, its currently sat in wgt waiting to hear what the cause may be, other than this pip said its a solid motor, great compression, just unsure on the oil pressure problem, but if you want it, you can buy it for the amount i paid 🤣

Haha i know, just hoping it doesnt go to the last of the list (bearings) really cant afford a rebuild after the price ive paid for the car, not yet anyways 😭🤣
