Seat replacement which aren't Spirit R Recaros

I've been looking into a set of Ronin Speedworks rails as below with a Tillett B6 XL Screamer seat as my fat arse in no way fits into the normal brides (ripped the Zieg III straight out after it giving me pressure sores on my drive home after buying the car) and even the GT version of the Cobra Suzuka Imola is a bit of a squeeze. Just abit worried about the lack of padding.

Was speaking to the jamsport guys at the weekend as one of their race minis had them fitted. He said it was the most comfortable seats he's used.

Yes, I ask about them because they are pretty much the same price as the Recaro Pole Position's but appear to have way less padding. Would sit lower probably. Not sure what rails to run with either seat.

The Elise seats aren't badly priced but they don't seem to offer any additional support over the stock seats.

Also, any reason that I cannot keep the A/C with a V Mount if I am just tilting the radiator backwards? The little A/C condenser sits on the front of the radiator as is.

How difficult are these options to get in and out of?

Ideally, I would like symmetry so two seats, but I can imagine my Mrs. or any passenger would hate trying to get into them. Whuch would risk them scratching my glovebox, scuff plates, door panels, etc with their feet moreso than that risk already exists for people trying to get into such a low car when everyone is used to SUVs today, lol.

I have elise (actually vxr) seats in my buggy - they are great wee seats, very light

don't move though!

I know you said not oem recaros.. But with your requirements for fit and finish I'd think they are your best option to be honest. They do occasionally come up cheap to import in ropey condition... They're very comfortable, perfect for road and the occasional track use.

Look pretty sexy too ;).

I know, but the seats cost like £2,000 minimum, then another £1,000 to reupholster, then you need the leather side covers, the rails, etc. Before you know it, it has cost £4,000-5,000 just to have those seats.

If you're patient you should be able to get a set with rails for around 2k, decent covers will run for around £800 depending on what you want done.
They hold their value or appreciate too, can always sell them on without a loss.

Yes, but you still won't make the side covers and reupholstering money back which is £2000 on top of getting the seats and rails in the first place for £2000, and that is excluding import costs (shipping and potential duty).

You say that, but I think it would massively help the value of the whole car. I think I would only want a Spirit R for the seats lol

It's hard, but you really need to try the seats before committing. I sold my RZ seats because I didn't find them that comfortable or supportive on track. The back flexes quite a bit too. If you find them comfortable then they are a good compromise for a road car as they are relatively easy to get in and out of. I didn't feel like I gained much in height over the stock seats. I switched to a Recaro Profi SPG on a runner. The runner has been designed so it sits closer to the centre line of the seat so is a bit lower than normal. I then finely adjusted (with a file) some of the mounting holes to maximise clearance to the door and drop the rear of the seat down. I even had to file down the bolt head that fastens the runner to the chassis as it fouled the seat (or part of the runner/seat belt?). I bought 2nd hand and not seen another runner like it.

There is static clearance to the door, but on hard cornering it does touch. The seat is stiffer than the RZ seat, but the runner probably adds to the flex. I've got it angled back quite a bit and have just enough clearance with a lid on. 6 foot, but reasonably long in the back I think. Seat is quite narrow (narrower than the RZ and Pole Position), which is perfect for me. I find it really comfortable. Did 3000 miles in 10 days driving the Alps and was fine. Getting in and out is more challenging and requires a hand on the handbrake and the sill to lift yourself clear. I kept the stock passenger seat for practical reasons, even though I'm not keen on the non-symmetrical look.

Here’s my set in my car damm comfy seats and as they can tilt and slide you can adjust how you want rather then others being fixed sliding

Re doing the upholistery is 1k for both seats. Also have a spare set in black 😎
