I want to fit another carpet, the old one I have cut out but would like to fit the new one back in properly, to do this I would have to
remove the dash, anyone know how difficult this is to do.

It's not that bad. But long and short is.

Remove battery lead
Take out clocks.
Take out front trims under dash
Remove kick panels.
Remove gear stick surround and gear stick.
Remove center of dash top vent near screen.
Remove dash side panels
Remove both drivers and passengers knee rest.
Undo two bolts on each side and the four on the trans tunnel and then the one in the middle.
Ease dash out a bit
Undo two or three blue plugs on the ECU side,
Undo the plug on the driver's side fuse box
Get a friend if you have one.
Try to take the dash out slowly
Realise you missed something
Try again

Don’t forget the two bolts that hold the steering column to the dash. There’s two blue connectors on each side. Plus the green plug on the fuse box as Nas says. Think you also need to disconnect the ignition wiring.

Once the dash is out, the carpet is still a little
Bit of a ballache if you want to do a perfect job and change it exactly as it comes out as there’s a few other wires and things to disconnect. I seem to recall you will have to remove the heater and air con matrix, possibly the pedals and blower motor. You’re probably best off removing the rear seats/bins completely as well inc sides

The dash isn't too difficult to remove only a few bolts holding it in once all the wires are out the way.

Someone did fit a carpet without taking the dash out once no longer with us FD owners unfortunately.

I managed it with heater in place. You have to struggle like an asshole to get it under though... Or cut a slot so you can get it round that stupidly placed captive bit of thread.

Also forgot to mention you need to pull the seats out lol. But thought that's obvious.

I was going to have a go at this tomorrow but sounds like a pig of a job so I think I may well do a few
less stressful bits and pieces.

Yeah break it down over a couple of weekends is always my way of thinking with anything like this 👍 best thing about a fd not being a daily 😆

I have done one a bit of preventive maintenance on the floor while the carpet is out painting it with some rust preventer so may just
fit an additional bit of sound proofing as well. also got to fit a front bumper back on so that will take care of today.
