had new plugs and leads etc fuel filter also been done I have tested fuel pump and regulator also. car has standard ecu and is standard car. only tested fuel side as was told by the previous owner it may be an overfuelling issue. I have checked all vacuum/pressure pipes to the solenoid box and also the pipes to all the actuators. going to look at the actual actuator flaps later see as they are opening/closing fine.

Plugs

Plugs, leads etc good? What ecu? Standard car?

Now I know the gauge should be accurate, I'll test it out. I do know that if I floor it in 1st or 2nd, it won't boost, but it will boost well if I press the accelerator down half way! Is this normal, a limiter maybe?
This has to be a leak as the half throttle is suggesting that you're giving it time to spool up! Make sure your primary is working properly before you tackle secondary troubles 👍

this a different problem from the OP right?

Ascari this sounds like a hairline crack in a coupling. This will open when you full throttle due to either engine movement or just sheer pressure, or both.

Check all the rubber couplings especially under/ around the fasteners.

At this point I'm becoming very green... when you refer to rubber couplings, is this where the vacuum hoses connect to, err, stuff? And what are fasteners?

Sorry @Nickmms94, poor etiquette to hijack a thread... i'll start a separate one, now I know I have an issue :)

Intercooler pipe joiners, from the turbo outlet to the throttle body. 👍

By fastners he means pipe clamps/jubilee clips etc. The rubber under them tends to split from heat and pressure 👍 could also be cut from them being metal 😆

This was mine, they were still holding 1.2bar to redline without problems
