Vinyl wraps

If I’m paying to have it done I think I’d like to just stay with the vintage red, not sure how shit a 2k red gloss would look.

That’s the dilemma, be a cheap arse and risk it being shit even after sinking a grand or 2 into it or wait it out and pay a bit more, I’m not overly fussy but it would hurt seeing runs and shit loads of overspray etc after a paying out.
I sprayed my old s13 myself but it was matte 😬
I wouldn’t mind paying a grand or so for a wrap if it was mint when finished, gonna be in the same boat in a few years time again then though

Before deciding to spray mine myself, a local shop quoted me 2.5k for a windows out full respray. Very glad I did it myself in the end, though. Even though it consumed 5 weeks of my life :D.

I own a wrapping company and can tell you the material can't be bought for £200 to £300. Expect to be paying upwards off £1300 to thousands for different finishes ie flip colours , satin chrome and coloured chrome.

Also can't see a £1000 pound spray job being any good at all and we have a seen a lot off bad ones lol.

You obviously know a lot more than me doing it for a business. But a couple of friends have wrapped their cars mainly 350z / soarer / s13 and they didnt pay more than £300 for their material.

If you have facilities to respray have a crack yourself, I would love to try (not on the Feed), maybe buy something batterd to practice on Rx8?

I've got some spare panels and bumpers to practice with, i think that's what I'm going to end up doing.

The lacquer is cloudy, on the bonnet it's peeling, my bumper is a different colour... Even a DIY spray will be an improvement at this point.

I had mine wraped, I think it looks great.

There are a couple of rough edges, but overall I'm very happy.

I paid £1800 for mine, the wrap itself was £900 and so was fitting, so its not cheap. I keep mine out of the rain and clean it regularly. Theres a lot of cleaning products you can't use on wraps.

Its also not heat proof, so you'll need a heat shield above the exhaust!

I mentioned that it spews flames from time to time, and the chap fitting the wrap told me I couldn't do that. xD

I have a small carbon fibre heat shield above my exhaust, seems to have protected it so far!

One more thing,

Its a sad thing, but the wrap wasn't big enough to cover the entire car. As most cars have a gutter or something to hide a seam, as the RX-7 doesn't have this there will be an unsightly seam in the middle.

It doesn't really show up in pictures, but you'll know its there.

Im sure you were parked behind me at the recent Japfest at Donnington? I think it looks great. Threw me a bit with the pearlescent effect as everytime i walked back to my car it was a different colour depending on where i came from  which i thought was awesome. Had a few cars in at work that had been wrapped and i couldn't tell it was a wrap, honestly thought yours was sprayed.

I wouldn’t mind having my feed carbon bonnet wrapped as close a white to “chaste white” as possible

Any of you guys on here no which colours would be similar or fairly close match?
