Engine is now rebuilt (again) and run in. Power runs have been going on. Engine made 437fwhp at 0.8bar, some tweaking needs doing and the boost up to 1 bar for the final run, unfortunately the throttle cable melted so waiting on a new one to arrive to carry out final run. Hoping to get the car back soon as me and my partner are expecting twins next month and would love to drive it a little before I have to put it away till next year

Engine is going in but have a few small problems. The intake elbow I bought from rotary works lines up with the strut brace so can’t be used, we are going with the greedy elbow which seems to sit lower. Hopefully will all be back together within a few weeks. Anyway here’s a picture with the greedy elbow vs rotary works

Yep . I knew exactly what it was. You need thinner engine mounts. I use polyurethane land rover ones. They are 5mm lower which puts the engine at the correct height.

Good news!! Being collected tomorrow! Do have some issues so I need some parts(in wanted section) speedo is in op and he thinks it’s a cluster so in the market for one of them urgently. 5th gear synchro is not great but I plan to swap the box out anyway but the main thing is it’s taxed tested and insured!!

It’s back! 240 miles down. Ran spot on, only had it on low boost as the steering has abit of play and tracking needs doing. My only problem is it smells really rich, is this normal? Also think I made a mistake having screamer pipes on as it is miles to loud!

Yes they do smell rich but if you are smelling fresh fuel inside the car then o would definately get your fuel system checked! I had fresh fuel smelling in mine, never found a leak but renewed all the pipes and the smell went away!

Haven't updated this for a while so thought I would share a little. Car is currently like this!
I won’t lie, out of everything I’ve ever owned this is the one I hate the most, it’s also the one I love the most.
So the car has done less than 2000 miles since I’ve owned it, it went off for flat and polish (delayed due to covid) and the body shop dropped something on the bonnet!! To make matters worse they couldn’t match the colour so it had to be repainted. 🤦‍♂️ Whilst they was at it I invested in the later spec bumper which I personally prefer.
I then had issues with sidelights which was a tns relay and that was one issue fixed.
Then speedo was miles out so thanks to fdoc members I just had to calibrate speedo. Due to kids and work the car is barely driven. Unfortunately for me the first time I had to use it was for my uncles wedding and the rex was taking him, when I pulled onto his drive the radiator decided to explode on his drive, annoyingly this was a custom rad that looked like it had been repaired before going in my vehicle and obviously had a weak spot.
3 weeks later it was fixed and back in the car.
The next time out for the Mazda was when I had family over from the Isle of Wight. Went to a car show with the nephew and after shoqing the nephew the power of the beast the gearbox decided it had had enough. The freshly rebuilt box couldn’t take in no more and 4th gear synchro was obliterated and locked up the box on a very busy roundabout!
Sourced a gearbox from a member on here that was a great help along with some later spec seats and she lived once again.
But….. on the next trip out no sidelights/dash lights again which I’ve traced to a corroded wire, airbag light now flashes and indicates a fault with drives airbag and Rev counter doesn’t work. The car is meant to be used next weekend to take the mrs away for her birthday but not sure I’ll have time to get the intercooler back out and repair the wire before.
I love this car but don’t know how much more I can take. Every time it goes out something else goes wrong. At least this time it’s still drivable- well in the day at least

Well, here again. First trip out and another breakdown. About 30 miles in, pulling on to the motorway a few bangs and exhaust is blowing. Pulled into a lay-by and a quick inspection looks like one of my blow off valves has exploded. Why oh why is all these new parts-not cheap parts I might add, do they keep shitting themselves! The car is really making me wonder why I bother. So far the last 4 times I’ve used it I’ve had a breakdown. Where do I stand on warranty with wastegates. New about 2 years ago but about 1800 miles on it

Havnt posted in a while mainly due to not much has been happening really, car had been running great with a few electrical problems on the way. Mainly with the cluster but got that sorted from a member in the forums. Unfortunately today is not a good day for the old girl. Pulled up at home and the add coolant light flashed up. Had no overheat issues but topped up with 2l of coolant. The next day I rechecked and it took another half a litre.
No visible leaks in the garage so started it up and took the coolant cap off from cold…… see video
The car still starts spot on and seems to run great. I suspect the coolant seal has failed.
I’ve never rebuilt a rotary but I’m going to give it a go this time round. I’m hoping all rotors and housings are all still serviceable and I just need to change the seal kit but I suppose only time will tell
