It takes more effort than I think it should to open my door, is this normal? Should I dismantle and take a look before it snaps off?

Sounds like a investigation is needed. Or do what i do and have a quick look, then decide that looks like a lot of work and i have bigger issues to sort out first 😉

Nice jeff! I like that yet in the 5 mins and 3 times I've read it I still can figure out why it needs a stopper lol. When my handled decide to get stuck I shall investigate further 😎

That makes a lot of sense Jeff, hadn't seen that before! If they're kept well lubed I find they work great. I threw new handles on mine, haven't had to touch them yet, but will probably do that mod next time they're off :).

Like you say it's not easy to see but once off it's a bit easier.
When the handle is relaxed it sort of goes over centre so that when you pull the handle you're actually pushing the mechanism against itself a fraction before it should really start (rising).
When you own a well lubed handle it's not so obvious but I'm guessing over time it's a contributory factor in the breaking of handles.

This is a much better read if you replace handle with nob :ROFLMAO:

I also had this problem and snapped my drivers door handle off 😂, when i fitted new metal door handles i did the mod rotors7 had said and its alot less effort now to open the doors now👍.

I had this. I took the handle off and smashed the mech with lube and it's fine now
