Can't rev past 2500rpm normally but can rev to redline slowly..

Hey guys, I'm having a hell of an issue with my FD. Here is a video I took but please read the description below as well for more info -

Car stats and idles normally but doesn't go past 2500 revs if I try to rev it quickly, doesn't matter if I am moving or not. But I can rev it to the redline if I do it slowly and build up the RPMs. But as soon as I try to rev it a little faster or just "normally" it bounces off 2.5k revs and stands banging and popping.

So its like if try to rev quickly something is telling the engine to cut power and limit revs but I do it slowly it can rev up higher.

I thought it was maybe limp mode but I think limp mode would limit rev regards of how fast or slow I do it, no? I have tried the limp reset procedure and it did nothing. Sometimes it will go up to 3k-4k revs but most of the time the rev cut happens 2.5k revs.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Most likely culprit is the black box solenoid pack, followed by the OMP. I assume it’s on a stock ECU

Its an import from Japan, (I'm in the UK). Its also heavily modified but could still be stock ECU but i'm not sure.

List out the mods. If it’s modified then it’ll either be on a power FC in which case you’ll likely have a hand commander. If you don’t have a hand commander then there is a fair chance it’s on a reflashed stock ECU. Is it still on twins?

They haven’t mentioned ECU so it’s prob stock. Tbh you’re not far off the limits of any stock ECU. You need to get the codes read to see if there any any and whether it’s a faulty solenoid or OMP.

Yh the car is only running about 280 BHP so its nothing crazy. I'll try get some codes tomorrow if my ODB scanner from amazon works.

That’s the solenoid black box yes. Incidentally that’s me selling it. But your issue might not be that box. Check the codes first.

That would be handy if you have one, I'll let you know what the codes say when I get them.

That probably won't work since the RX7 doesn't have an OBD port!

You need a 12v prewired LED
