Rx7 value?

Hello everyone,

I have had a 1993 jap imported rx7 for over 10 years now and I've treasured it, daily drove for some years too. Some years ago I experienced a number of engine and turbo issues so a family friend, a well known rotary specialist, advised putting a new engine in. Long story short, he robbed me of half of my engine bay and I couldn't press legal on him because he has nothing in his name.
So, I have spent several thousand pounds to replace the missing bits, but lack the time and space to get it all running. This might be because I have lost the passion for fast drift cars and now I prefer off-road centres and green lanes. I'm curious what value does a non-runner rx7 hold in today's climate? Am I better off breaking the car for parts? I remember being offered £6k a few years back because the setup is what they wanted, but I wasn't interested at the time and I had spent that much on parts anyway. So please, what guide value would you put to a non runner. Be as vague as you like 😁 I imagine the range is around £4k-£8k

Single turbo conversion, turbonetics t-62 turbo with upgraded bearing, hks coilovers, I will need to travel to the vehicle to write a list of all the parts.

Without knowing the condition of the interior and body, it's hard put a price on it but assuming decent and you have all the parts for the engine then it's easy worth 5 figures.

Are you saying it just needs the engine put back together? If so, I'd get it done and the sell. You'll maximise your money.

Yes mate, I've managed to get everything back together but I'm struggling to figure out the finer details to get it to actually run rather than just spot and pop when turning it over

The condition of the interior is probs a 7/10. Terrible plastic, door card handles are cracked, paint is faded, spoiler is peeling away. I'll try to upload a couple of pics

I hope these pictures help. I think the paint is actually not too bad just a couple of little chips here and there, majority of the interior plastic is fine.

If there is somebody happy to help to get it past the final hurdle of running, then I can sell it and cut you in on the money, or I can just sell as is. Honestly there's been many times it has felt like it is gonna fire up and run, which is why I've held on selling it for a few years. Honestly, I can work on a 90s off-road vehicle and can confidently do anything with it except for welding, but the rx7 has left me scratching my head when it is most likely something SO simple.

Also update....

The engine replacement engine is rebuilt and has not run yet, no dates or receipts and no compression test to show what it is but I can do one if needed

Might be worth getting in touch. Your's is J Reg so 91 - 92

I'd put it up for 14k as is and see what you get. It's worth a good bit more than your original thought of 4 to 8k.

You may get some assistance from the community to get it running again. What parts are missing?
A few beers offered and you might get people willing to come up for a mini meet and help out.

Im not sure what it running actually gets you, as from the photos it looks like faded paint and a not great interior.
So unfortunately puts you at the lower end of the valuation.

How much does it owe you or what price will you be happy with?

I'm not entirely sure mate I'm here to figure out the value haha. I'm gonna clean the dust off of it and get some good photos to show it's true condition. Based off of what people have said and the DM'S I would guess around £8-10k. I have 2 people ready for most of the parts if I break it but it would be such a shame to lose another rx7 on the British roads. I still love it but my passion and time is on farms, shooting and offroading now

Everything in the engine bay needed for it to run is all put back together, engine turns over, spits and pops, it's so close to firing up. Me and my dad just cannot get it to run though. I suspect it just needs lots of cranking based off of YouTube but I wouldn't risk that without advise.

If anybody is interested in such a meet I'll offer more than beers to try and get my rx7 running! 😂

I will try to arrange this. I think I will clean it and get some pictures highlighting the good and bad points etc then try to get some people round to try get it running and the result of that will decide what I do next.

If we can get some people round to help get it running, you will all be rewarded aha

It would be worth considerably more as a running car. As is you may get 12k.
Things I would look at - the basics
How old is the fuel in it?
Is it generating good oil pressure
Has it flooded? Exhaust stinks of unburnt fuel.
Are the HT leads connected correctly
Are you getting spark and fuel delivery at the rail.
If that's all good I would try it again on easy start. If it will fire on that then it's fuel system related - which is what I would suspect.
